• Hello everyone,

    This is the deal:

Create three articles in english and assign them to two categories like “Cat1-English”, “Cat2-English”.

Then Create three articles in other language, for example Spanish.
One of them put it inside a category already exist for english articles and the other two in new categories “Cat3-Spanish” & “Cat4-Spanish”.

Well, the bug is that whenever you are browsing the site in english or spanish, categories will show all categories, that’s: Cat1-English, Cat2-English, Cat3-Spanish, Cat4-Spanish. So if browsing in english you click over a category that do not have articles for that language, the category link which show all articles for a given category will return a WordPress custom 404 error page.

    My two cents ??

  • this is related to the WordPress inner caching system, and I’d love to fix it but I really have some troubles with it. I hope to find a solution soon, sorry.

I have installed wordpress 2.6.2 and gengo 2.5.3, I do not manage the categories neither to be translated nor to display in the correct language, I followed the same steps as the previous post. Any work arround for this problem? Like deleting manually the cache?

Anybody has an idea how to fix category and tag translation for Gengo on WP 2.7?

These are the nastiest bugs with Gengo and WP 2.7
I am not a programmer but I believe they could be fixed.

What I noticed is that categories get translated only on category pages and on the home page and only if there’s at least one post for each language in each category.
On single pages and posts that belong only to one category they remain in their default state.

I think Gengo is better than the other multilingual plugins because it separates language data form main WP tables and mostly because it uses different posts for different languages (i.e. no ugly [lang] tags in post content). And should you deactivate it everything will be fine.
