Italy guide – WP as CMS – opinions?
-
Hi
I’ve converted a Italy guide (in Norwegian…) to WordPress and believe it works fine. Though, I would appreciate opinions.
Have a look at dolcevita.no
The guide contains about 200 pages and maybe 2000 photos, some videos and 360 panos, all made by us during our years in Italy. It’s become the largest Italy guide in the Nordic countries.Since its in Norwegian one might need some clues:
To build this site I’ve used WP as a CMS, with the use of a premium theme and a load of plugins.
It features a main section with a section for each Italian region (all under the first drop menu) – and then sections for images, offers, practical travel tips, a cultural section (also with its own “Italian kitchen”), newsletter, blogg/forum and something About us (even in English).
Its built with three separate WP installations (2 would have worked). The main installation needed 32 plugins (and lots of back’n forth compatibility and functionality testing) to work as I wanted. It was a heavy setup job with lots of studying – I don’t know if WP was the best choice, but with everything in place I’m really happy with it.
A BIG THANKS to all of you guys who helped me out – your support was what made WP a brilliant choice – everything taken into consideration.
Though there may be language problems: Any thoughts on even better ways to build a site like this?
Thanks,
Kjetil
