• I updated my wife’s news site from 2.5 to 2.6 last night; works fine on Firefox on my Mac, but somebody just called to report errors appearing in Explorer. I verified in IE on XP via Parallels on my Mac: Entering the main, the page seems to load but I get a “Internet Explorer can’t open the page [address of page] Operation cancelled.” When I try reloading, the message disappears and the page loads, but friends tell me they can’t get in on their PCs whatever they try.

    The page is https://www.lucianacapiberibe.com

    Any help greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the overwhelming percentage of the audience here in Brazil use PCs with IE…!

  • I have the same problem on my website. With FF it works like a charme but after upgrading to 2.6 and trying to edit an existing post, I get the “can’t open the page” error as well. I deleted all cookies and my cache but no go. Any help would be appreciated.

    //edit. It seems to be a plugin issue..deactived them all and the error is gone..will investigate which one it is now….

    //edit2: Of course it has to be WordPress..not a plugin I can deactivate and wait for a solution but the ony plugin I need to have essentially if my site should make any sense. As soon as I turn it on, I reveive the error in IE and when I turn it off everything works like a charme…

    Oh Jesus please somebody shoot me. The problem is even worse than I thought. I have isolated the problem causing the problem and it turned out to be Podpress. I can use any other plugins I have installed and the “page can’t be load” error does not appear in IE. I thought by telling my authors to use FF till this is fixed I have an interim solution but it is no solution.

    Though I have the add media files option inside a post in FF when I activate Podpress, no media fiels can be added. As soon as you save the post or publish it, the added media file is no longer available and all fields are empty again. I already asked for help with this on the Podpress forums but there is not much going on and the developper hasn’t logged in since a week and I am desperate because I have no clue where to start with this. If ANYBODY has some hints for things to try out to help get my blog back to business would be appreciated.

    I know this is a Podpress issue and no WordPress problem but I hope for the help of people who have better technical skills than I do.

    After spending hours digging through the code and looking at the database, I discovered that this is being caused by the new revisions in 2.6. To disable them, just add:

    define (‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’, 0);

    to your wp-config.php and the problem disappears.

    Jerd, I tried that and it didn’t work.

    TomBayer, I have the same problem. It better not be with podPress. I NEED it!!!

    FWIW, I don’t use PodPress and I’m having the same problems. I also tried Jerd’s code above and that didn’t fix it. I’m still moving through all of my plugins to see if I can isolate the nasty one, but so far I’m not having much luck. Help us, WordPress gods, help us!

    are you all using Site meter to track statistics?

    If so, you are not alone.
