• Hi,

I searched forums and plugin directories, but didn’t find an answer ??

I got several wordpress installations and receive constantly trackback links from them by cross mentioning and linking to articles. However, I don’t want one wordpress installation to accept trackback links from a specific URL (which is technically a subdomain of this one). I don’t want this trackback request to be treated as spam as it is not Spam.

    The questions:
    1) Is there any plugin that allows to manually exclude an URL from being accepted as trackback comment?

    2) If there isn’t a plugin: How can I solve this issue? Currently I have to delete every trackback comment that is incoming. ??

I want trackacks working on both blogs as they are very useful in 99% of the cases.

  • those are pingbacks, not trackbacks.

Trackbacks are manually entered. Pingbacks are sent from links.

Thanks for clarification. So I meant pingbacks.

However, I don’t have a problem with self pings. The plugin you mentioned turns self pings off.

I want a specific URL to be excluded from pingbacks.

You do, if the domain is actually as subdomain (as you clearly indicate above). Maybe you ought to download the plugin and see if it checks via domain, as that would surely solve your problem.

If not, and you ask nicely enough, perhaps the plugin author might help you making that adjustment.

Of course, if you just want to exclude ONE URL from the subdomain — than it’s prolly is going to do more than you want.

Actually, the fact that the URL is a subdomain doesn’t really matter. ??

I don’t want self pings to be turned off, as I think they are useful. Even from other subdomains. But one URL (which is a subdomain in this case) should not show up there.

I will check back with the developer, perhaps he can help me.

Anyway, if there is any other hint I would appreciate a comment ??

I just took a look to the plugin, it working the other way. It prevents your own wp from sending pingbacks to your own wp rather than filtering them at the incoming side.

Anyway, I modified it and installed it at the wp installation I do not want to appear on the other one. That seems to work ??
