• I see many queries on here regarding the backup timing out after many attemps.

It keeps retrying after being inactive for 5 minutes, so my question is WHY is it inactive?? I have tried following the suggestions of increasing the time to 300 seconds and have increased the number of attemps that can be made from 3 to 5; however this does not resolve the issue.

The backup works fine but the archive is the problem. I see my database is only 19 MB as it’s a small site and it should be going to my DropBox, so it’s not the size of the file from what I can tell.

Can you please give some other suggestions as to why it’s not working other than to increase the limit to 300 seconds.

    Thanks Lorraine

  • The message means the BackWPup checks the running of the backup job and has found out that the job has no progress since 5 Minutes. The cames normely if the jo hase terminated or crached on server side.

BackWPup that starts the job again on the step where it would terminated.

The problem ist that mostly we can’t say why it is terminated. In the new Version i have added some more checks for termination but it must tested.

Somtimes it depends on some folder or files that can’t be backuped. You can find this by exluding files and filder and do some tests.
Somtiems it comes from that the backup archive goes to large. Strato allows only 64MB, some file system only 2GB. You can see thi if you look with you FTP programm in the Temp Folder of BackWPup.

    You can check this first.

you schuld decresing the maximum Execution time in BAckWPup > Steeing > Tab: Jobs to 30 secounds. It schuld be a time lower than the maximum PHP Execution time.
