    Hi John,

Having a problem with tons of URLs hitting the site every day such as :

//blog – (the double forward slash)

No matter what I use, the link goes to a blank page as it excludes the full domain url?

Are you able t offer a suggestion on how this can be fixed so it can be redirected to the homepage, please?

    Many Thanks

I will give my usual suggestion that you don’t need to do this – it’s not a productive use of time and doesn’t help your site.

What excludes the full domain URL? It looks like a normal URL so the usual rules should apply.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for that,

But the issue is, hundreds of attempts are being made using //blog by attackers/hackers of the site which in turn is causing issues with server resources thus, slowing the site down?

How it would help to address this, is stopping such events by being able to redirect them to the homepage thus, no 404’s.

But your saying this is not an issue, right?

404s don’t slow your site down. The requests will still be made and consume resources whether it is a 404 or a 301. In fact, a 301 in this instance will trigger two requests – one for the original URL and one for the redirected URL. Effectively you are doubling resource usage.
