Our website has received 14+ orders since last night for a $10 product. All of the orders have failed.

Other orders of higher value are processing as usual.

The names on the orders are all different, etc.

Is this someone testing stolen creditcards?

What can I do about this?

    Hi @squeaky,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I understand about the issue you’re experiencing with your $10 product orders.

Is this someone testing stolen creditcards?

While it’s hard to say definitively without more information, it’s possible that these could be fraudulent attempts.

Are you able to share a screenshot from one of the order notes for us to take a look at it? Also, do you notice any similarities between the customers/orders that had this issue? It can be a similar address, using the same payment gateway or method, making an order while not being logged in, etc.

All of the orders are placed using a credit card. Payment via Credit Cards.

All orders are placed as a guest.

All of the email addresses look like generated emails they follow the same pattern.
    Like this: [email protected]

There are over 1000 products on this website. There are only 2 different products in the orders. one product in each order. They are the least expensive products on the website.

I;ve added a recaptcha to the checkout page. I have not seen any further failed orders like these since I sentt his original email.

    Hi @squeaky

It does seem like these could potentially be fraudulent attempts. Fraudsters often use stolen credit cards to perform test transactions, typically with low-cost items. They also tend to use randomly generated email addresses and place orders as guests to avoid detection.

Adding a reCAPTCHA to your checkout page was a smart move, as it can help prevent bots from placing these types of orders. You might also need to consider implementing additional fraud prevention measures. For instance, you can use a fraud detection plugin like WooCommerce Anti-Fraud that can help identify and block suspicious transactions based on various factors.

If you continue to see a high number of failed transactions, I would recommend reaching out to your payment gateway provider. They may be able to provide additional insights or tools to help combat this issue.

I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
