I don’t think it’s very important who wins, I mean sure it’s recognition for their work, but the best part of this whole exercise is this – there were very few themes for most users, now they have over 200+, 139 of those having come from the competition itself. Now THAT’s impressive.
On the other hand, perhaps this could be a regular thing – I know Shadow has tried something different with the content competition, and it’s all part of the community spirit, but how about a bi-annual competition?
Be it Alex (though the poor guy is probably knackered by now) or someone else, and I don’t even think the prizes should come into it, just for the sport and fun of it. What’s impressed me is the diveristy of the themes, and the work that has gone into all of them as well as the high level of entires. WHen the comp first started, it was probably a week or two in, and I wondered if themes were harder to make because of the slow start; would there be less themes than there were styles for 1.2? I think the competition response has probably exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Now, who wants to start one for plugins ??
