• I display parent level categories on my site as separate pages, the way that WordPress naturally sets them up. I have a handful of these top-level category pages, and they are in my main nav.

I installed the update of the plugin to 1.3.3 and two, not all, but just two of my category pages showed as “Not Found” when you went to them.

I have reverted to the older 1.3.1 version of the plugin, and everything is fine again, but I am at a loss as to how to fix this in order to update the plugin again. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • Did you try refreshing Permalinks?

    Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks

To update Permalinks simple click Save Settings.

I have the same problem and I don’t think that it’s related to permalinks.

Categories work in general, however archive pages don’t show posts from subcategories. And I guess that SN0WKRASH got the “not found”-message on categories, where only subcategories have posts.

However, even if the main category has posts: it only shows the posts from the main category, not subcategories.

Hmm. This might be hard to troubleshoot. Let me see if I can do some tinkering this weekend to try and re-create it.

I have the same or similar problem. After the last updates, posts from hierarchical post-types don’t appear even though I can assign and save them into the posts.
Non-hierarchical posts don’t have this problem.
Permalinks shouldn’t be the problem, because posts don’t appear also in the wp-admin/edit.php via the filter button.
I changed the settings of the hierarchical post-types into non-hierarchical post-types and the problem remained, which is strange.

I would appreciate if you could have a look, because my whole site is based on this particular hierarchical post-types. Thanks!

I made a few tweaks and am wondering if they take care of this issue as well. Would anyone mind downloading the development version and letting me know if the problem is solved?

    Thanks!

I installed the development version, but unfortunately it doesn’t solve the problem with subcategories.

unfortunately the development version didn’t work for me either.

Can anyone show me the issue with screenshots or a screencast? That would really help me figure out the issue.

Gonna jump in here and mention I *may* be experiencing this issue as well. If not the same issue, then a very similar one.

My issue can be easily replicated in the admin screen with the edit.php columns. Clicking on the CPT-onomy name within the those columns will filter the post_type appropriately, but for some CPT-onomies will return no posts, or even not all of the posts (returning 1 post when it should return 2).

For me the solution seems to be updating the slug to an ID. The ID always returns the correct posts, while the slug can suffer from the above irregularity.

Here’s some screenshots that might help my explanation:

    https://chipmunkbay.com/junk/ex2.gif
    https://chipmunkbay.com/junk/ex3.gif

Bear in mind that my site is still in development and only has about 10 posts for testing, so perhaps the ID method could still return incorrectly similar to the slug method, given a larger pool of posts.

Oh, and I’m using plugin ver 1.3.4 as well.

    Hope this helps.

This is a category called “TV-News”, the grey area shows the subcategories. With version 1.3.3 all posts from all subcategories were shown as well (e.g. the last posts)

Using the version 1.3.4 or the dev version it looks like this:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-iQAoEf4BnuOHZlVTY4ZlZqV3c/view?usp=sharing

It only shows the categories that were directly assigned to “TV-News”

Thanks for the info! I’ll be able to check it out in the next day or two!

My custom categories stopped working yesterday. Since there doesn’t seem to be a resolution yet, I uninstalled 1.3.3 and installed 1.3.1. But now it doesn’t recognize my two existing custom types. I’m assuming that the posts are still there but that I just somehow need to let them now. (They aren’t showing up in the regular post listing in the admin section) This has really messed up my website. I have over 200 “College Profiles” and a special “State Resources” listing that aren’t showing up anymore.

    https://www.diycollegerankings.com
The profiles are supposed to be at https://diycollegerankings.com/college-search-resources-2/
The state resources are at https://diycollegerankings.com/college-information-by-state/

I really need this working. If nothing else, can someone suggest someone I could hire to get at least the older version working or just the posts showing up as regular posts?

I apologize that I haven’t had time to figure this out. I’m off work all next week so it will happen soon.

Did you upgrade and that’s why they stopped working? Or you upgraded a while ago and they randomly stopped working?

Have you tried flushing your rewrite rules to get your post types to show up? Settings -> Permalinks -> Save Changes.

The permalinks didn’t work. Unless there was an update yesterday, it just randomly stopped working. I have another pluging for my FAQs that is still working. It’s just the custom types I created through CPT-onomies that aren’t working.

I got the custom types to show up again by adding the same types as before. However, I still had the same problem as before, the post wouldn’t display, I just kept getting a message that the browser has detected that there was a redirect that wasn’t going to resolve. So I upgraded back to 1.3.3 since it didn’t seem to make a difference.

So I installed Post Type Switcher seeing if it would display as a different type. I change the type of one post and it would display. I went back and checked, now all of the custom posts are displaying properly. Maybe something in the Post Type Switcher plugin reset something–I don’t know.
