• I initially imported everything from my blogger account to my wordpress account a few times without a hitch. This was about a week ago. Today I cleared all my my posts on wordpress in order to re-import from blogger again. But this time I’m getting an error message. I authorize the import, grant access to my blogger account through Google but then get this message:

Trouble signing in
We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.

It asks me to clear my account information and try again. But I still get the same message. I’ve located a similar problem on an older post here but no real solution was forthcoming from the answers. Can anyone help or give an indication of what’s changed since my last import and how I can fix it?
Thanks in advance.

• i also face this problem both from self-hosted wordpress and wordpress.com blogs. Please someone help. desperate. there has no been solution found for this in web though this has been reported many times. is this a wordpress problem or blogger problem? will it be rectified in next release of wordpress or any hacks?

I am getting the same thing. My Blogger (Google beta) has 528 posts. It was via FTP to a custom site, but I switched it to Blogspot before proceeding with the import. Got through the authorization part but then get the same error described above and the notice indicating that I should clear the import information from my WP database and try again. Trying again yields the same results.

I was wondering though… how does the WP importer know which blog I want to import? I have 3 different blogs attached to my Blogger account and there was nowhere in the import process where I had to specify which blog I was trying to import into WP. Thanks!

Okay, I have eliminated the problem of having more than one blog tied to my Blogger account by creating a new Blogger account using a different Google ID and moving the blog I want to import into WP to this new Blogger account.

But I have the same issue when trying to import — after the authorization, I receive the message:

Trouble signing in
We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.

Sigh… I just want this to work and be done with it. It seemed like it was going to be such a simple process despite having to move the blog to Blogspot and create a new Blogger account, neither of which is really a big deal. But still no luck on the import into WP.

Ideas? Suggestions? Does the RSS import method work reliably well?

I’m subscribing to this topic, because I have the same issue. It appears that WP 2.2 isn’t communicating effectively with Blogger/blogspot, but I’ve no coder, and even if I knew what the import script was executing, I doubt I’d understand it.

Is anyone looking into this issue? Because until it’s resolved, I’m afraid a lot of folks looking to move to WP (I’m hosting WP 2.2 on my own server), won’t.

actually it will ask u which blog to import of the process goes well. this worked for me 2 days before and just before setting up the authors, i restarted and got stuck in this signing in problem. its surprising even wimporting into wordpress.;com has this problem

I too created a WP account this week and get the “trouble signing in” message if I try to import from my blogger account, which is only a couple of months old.
Blogger doesnt let me export my posts either.
If anyone finds out the answer please post it here, as the support is in a different time zone.

Just a “me too”. New Blogger account with 20-odd posts, trying to import to a WordPress-hosted blog (after failing to import it to a self-hosted WP blog).

Comes back with “Trouble signing in: We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.” every time.

Anyone..?

Follow-up: I filed a support ticket today and linked this thread (then got an email asking what error I was seeing).

At any rate, I’ll report what happens when it happens.

I’ve no idea if it’s a WB or Google/Blogger problem–and frankly, I don’t really care. I would just like to import my old posts!

Another me too. It worked last week, now it doesn’t. I’m running the two blogs side by side for a month and was almost ready to do the final import and make the WordPress blog live, and now I’m stuck. Would love to figure out a way to straighten this out!

I would really like to see what is up with this as well. I keep reading that it should be so easy but I keep getting the error message that all of you talk about.
<sigh>

Same problem here.

I am also having the same problem. I managed to transfer another blog last week without any problems. This one is not working.

I have the same problem. I would guess its properly blogger.com that have changed some routines..

same problem. note: i have successfully imported blogger several times, until today, i get the “trouble signing in” error. the only thing i can see is that it is trying to “sign in” to “https://www.blogger.com/feeds” instead of my actual account address. my test blogger account for this import is at “https://www.churchthinktest.blogspot.com”.

i am using the newest blogspot publishing, the newest wordpress publishing mats, and don’t see any reason why it won’t import. just chiming in here hoping to see some reply from someone!

same problem ??
i purchased new domain for wp. i installed to server…
and BOOM!
please help us!
