126 variations bulk price update don’t work

The max used to be 30 I know you can add more than that now, but 126 on a standard server isn’t going to happen. Your putting too much load on the server to handle.

I just tested a product with 150 variations on my website and I was able to bulk-set the price.

Can you please share the System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support so we can take a look?

Please note that you may need to also increase the WP Memory Limit to accommodate this large query.
To be sure, you may check the error log at WooCommerce > System Status > Logs.
If you see any errors, copy them and share them with me here.

By looking at the error log, we will be able to know what exactly is happening at the backend and how we can fix that.

Yes that is correct, there will follow other products with also that amount of variations.
WP Memory Limit is actually set to 256MB and at WooCommerce > System Status > Logs there are no entries regarding this issue.

Could you please increase your memory limit from 256 to 512MB and check if this will lead to any difference?

Hello @purevelvetdesign Your host has what we call a kill switch. It’s set to 30 by default. They’re most likely not going to increase thar for security reasons. Especially on shared hosting.

I recommend creating a product with 5 variants and seeing if that works fine. Maybe even 10. Just know that anything over 25 to 30 is a load on the server. Just because WooCommerce allowed more variants to be added doesn’t mean servers did.

Who’s your host by the way?

PHP Time Limit is now set to 300 but when I bulk update price here:

it’s still loading and loading and never finish. Is 5 Minutes, 300 seconds too less?

Hosting provider is not a popular one but a german one.

I tested it with 6 variations and it worked fine with bulk price updating. Without any problem.
So but how can I identify the exact webhosting parameter that prevent from bulk updating 126 variations? php time limit is 300 (5 min.) – memory limit is up to 512MB

Hey @purevelvetdesign your host will not allow you to change anything higher than these, unless you are on a dedicated server. All hosts have different configurations. You may even need more workers, more cpu.

How did you increase your Max Time? php.ini or htaccess or config?

You can try adding php_value max_input_vars 5000 to see if that helps, but I’m not sure of your host and their rules.

hmm okay, then I have to tell my customer, that his webhosting needs an upgrade.
I updated it in the PHP settings of PLESK. PHP Version 8.2.19

For this they’ll need more PHP workers. Default is usually 2, will need 6 to 8 and might even need a Redis.

Another way to get around this though, (possibly) is to custom code a hook that uses Ajax to call them dynamically. That’s pretty involved and would require an expert developer.

What do you mean with “PHP workers” ? Do you mean CPU cores?
I hope I can find any way without custom developement.
