125×125 button ads: how to put them side by side

Hi – so i switched my blog into a UBD theme (my blog is at https://www.energyanalysis.org). My right side bar is a little more than 250 px wide, so it fits 250×250 adsense or a pair of 125×125. How can i get the 125×125 to line up side by side? And why do no ads appear in my homepage, but they appear on every other page for instance in this page??

I like most of the things about this free theme, including the adsense banner automatic in each post, but i don’t understand why i am having difficulty in the right sidebar on the homepage. The other problem that i am having is that i added a total of four 125×125 button ad units to the right sidebar, but only like one or two of them appear…i don’t understand why. That was not a problem with my previous theme (which i scrapped because i couldn’t figure out how to modify the top banner with my own style logo or artwork).

As for my goal…the UBD screenshot of this theme shows the 125×125 button ads nicely grouped together in quads (2 ads on top of 2 ads) on the right sidebar. i would like to do that as well, but it is not self explanatory…any suggestions?
