Articles published by “Authors” do not show up on front page

I recently added two new authors to my blog (https://www.collegebeing.com) and I have a slight problem. The authors have the user group (Admin, Editor, Author, Contributor, Subscriber, etc.) as “Author.” They write a post and click on publish. It then is viewable through the site using the permalink, but it does not appear on the front page. I am using a custom theme I made, but that is not the problem since I have tested the default theme and the same thing occurs. The post appears when someone is viewing the category. The way I make an author post appear on the front page is by me (Admin) edits his or her post and (with or without actually editing anything) just click save. Then, boom, it’s on the front page. What is going on here? Can someone please help? It is almost like the Authors are Contributers, but I don’t want to have to approve every single post so that it appears on the front page.
