I carefully prepare the images that Facebook will scrape from my blog posts when those posts get linked to on Facebook. The images are always 1200×628 pixels, and I set them as the “Facebook Image” in the Social tab of Yoast SEO. The aspect ratio is honored when the blog post is linked to on a Facebook PAGE, but not when that same blog post is linked to on a Facebook PROFILE. The FB PROFILE displays only the central portion of the scraped wide image (cropped in from left and right) and places the title and description to the right of that cropped image. Do you know any way to prevent this cropping of scraped images on Facebook PROFILES?

Observing the problem a little more closely, it seems the main problem is in the mobile Facebook Profile view. That’s where an otherwise properly formated OG image gets cropped (left and right) and set to the left of the title and description. Currently, I’m observing that the same OG image, when viewed on a mobile Facebook PAGE is zoomed in (not cropped), which is hardly any better.

Facebook handles the adjustment of images and there isn’t a way to specify that Facebook uses a specific image for various layouts. Please contact Facebook for further assistance here: https://www.facebook.com/help/.
