Zelig Dropdown Cats passed curent category variable

I would like to use Zelig Dropdown Cats to gain some navigation functionality for my wp install. I have a post on Zelig’s site, but have had no response.

First the display only children function doesn’t seem to work as described. Anyon got any tricks to make it go.

Second, I want to feed the plugin my category, depending on the category that I am in. The codex is greek anyone want to splain’t simple like.
