    Hi,

in the plugin description it is written, that the maximum length of the product description is 1024 characters otherwise the product wont sync. Is this the product short description? Otherwise nearly 50% of my products wont sync, since 1024 characters for the description is way to short. the longest description i got is 1250 words! I would like to use/switch to your plugin, but the limitation prevents me from doing so. Maybe there is a workaround?

    Thx for an answer,

    Chris

    Hello @halbherz

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

I have just tested this on my testing environment and I see that the description above 1250 charters does work. I see that the title has got a maximum of 250 characters.

There have been support requests where special characters (like none ascii or emoticons) can affect the sync, so please also keep that situation in mind when/if you run into any issues.

Please let me know if this answered your question and if you have any more for us.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Ok, cool, but the longest i got is not 1250 characters, but 1250 words! This is a total of 9275 characters (with 1300 spaces). Could you please test that character-count? I hope this works.

    thx in advance,

    christian

    So, what I found out:
Limit product name: 256 characters (not related to word count)
I am not really able to test the description limit, because it does not transfer to the backend of the Zettle product, so I can’t check if it was copied. Are you seeing this product description on the POS device? (I don’t have this available to me, so can’t be sure).

I would think the limitation of the description is related to the maximum of a WordPress entry, since products, pages and posts are generated as the same entries within WP.

    Let me kow.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Ok. I do not know if i made myself clear. All i want to know is, if a product with a woocommerce-product-description of about 9500 characters will be synced. The woocommerce-product-description is not to bee seen in zettle-pos, nor in zettle browser-app. I just wanted to be shure that all my products will sync, cause on the documentation it is talked of some restrictions for products to be synced.

    Hello @halbherz

Ok, clear. I just tested a product with a description over 10000 character, and it synced to Zettle. Again: I think the limitation is only set by WordPress, not our plugin in this instance.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

ok, now all is broken… i jumped in the cold water deleting my zettle products from zettle to onboard with your plugin. But the sync does not stopped syncing. a bit of reading later i found out that your plugin is not compatible with webp images!!! Please tell me there is a workaround!!!!

    Hello @halbherz

We do indeed have a feature request open for adding the Webp images to the approved images list, but at this moment this is indeed not an option. I don’t have any option for you to correct this if you keep on using the webp images. The only hope I have is that you made a backup of both your libraries, so you can revert the library back to Zettle.

I have linked the webp feature request to this thread, so when this will be developed, you will be informed. I am not sure what more I can do to help you, but please let me know if you have more questions for me.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Ok, i had to reboard my old plugin and sync all products back to zettle, but all is good again. You should really consider to write some warnings regarding webp images, i think i am not the only person running into this. Due to the fact that i am not an it-specialist i did not realize that in zettle all webp pictures do not show up, I always thought this was due to some syncing problems of the old plugin! But it seems that Zettle itself does not support webp, correct? I hope this will soon change, and maybe until than you find a way to make your plugin sync, even if the webp images wont show up in Zettle (wich would not be cool, but ok)

    Hello @halbherz

I have added an FAQ item to our documentation (it takes some time before approved and shows up) with this information, but people need to do their research before launching this in order to avoid this. We also do expect that people make backups and test this system on a staging site before launching it on their live site.

At this moment there is not much I can do for the WebP issue, but should advise you that it could take some time before this will be developed, since the issue has got a lower priority and is an issue that is also something that mostly needs to be resolved on Zettle’s side (not the plugin).

I have raised the item again within the team, so that might help us raise traction on this.

Let me know if you have more questions or if we can mark this thread as resolved.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
