    Hi Zytzagoo,

Correct, we have an issue with the PHP version. We are currently working on a hotfix and should release an update later on this week.

If you had a problem with the upgrade please drop us an email on [email protected] and we will help you solve it.

    Hi Zytzagoo,

We have an update on this issue ??

The new version of the plugin which will be released tomorrow or early next week will check what version of PHP is running and alert the user if the version is prior to 5.3 and won’t install. That was our mistake, we shouldn’t allow the installation.

After doing some research, we decided not to support any PHP version prior to 5.3. The reason being is that PHP themselves ended the life and support of 5.2 in 2011, hence any security issues etc won’t be fixed. In fact they advised everyone to update to 5.3 back then.

Being a security company and a plugin developer, we won’t be supporting older version of PHP if PHP themselves do not support it. First of all if we encounter any PHP / plugin problems there isn’t anyone to help us.

Secondly, this approach will hopefully help us raise awareness on how important it is to always run the latest and most secure version of the software you use, something the WordPress security community have been evangelising about for years now. As a matter of fact after doing some research we are more than surprised about how many hosting providers still run on PHP 5.2.

Note: most hosting providers at least give the option to users to switch their PHP version, so if you have such an option I would recommend you to switch the version of PHP to a more recent one.

I trust the above explains our position and you understand it. Should you have any further queries do not hesitate to get in touch.
