1.8 not working

  • Upgraded to 1.8, and some users can not login. The user I worked with had a short username and a short password.

    Other users no issues.

    1) Our users cannot log in with Clean Login. On clicking [Log In], the form clears and the user is not logged in.
    Along with this,
    2) Registration and password recovery appear to be working.
    3) But setting default user level to subscriber is no longer working for new registrations.

    Clean Login Version 1.8.1
    WP 4.8 with Twenty Fifteen theme
    PHP 5.5.22

    – Google Chrome Version 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit),
    – Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.18697
    – Firefox 55.0b9 (64-bit)
