1.6.0 Update

We’ve released an updated version of the WP Post Stickies plugin that employs the use of WordPress custom post types (CPT) for its notes.

Everyone has to start somewhere; WP Post Stickies was our first WordPress plugin, and we’ve learned a lot about WordPress coding practices since it was initially planned and written.

By using a custom post type, you can now create and edit your Post Stickies through the same familiar interface that you use for posts and pages. Set the font and colors and store as many as you like, and use them with a much-simpler shortcode that points to the previously-created note.

Of course, we didn’t want to break any existing notes (including ours!) so in this version of the plugin (1.6.0) retains all of the previous functionality. Please do change your note format, however, as with subsequent releases, we’ll start to remove the old code.

The new format provides a nice basis for future enhancements, and we’re excited about the potential for WP Post Stickies. Not only will it always be our first released WordPress plugin, it’ll likely always be the most fun to use, enhance, and develop.
