1.5 MB jpeg uploaded to media library, other no

  • Hi. Small files are showing up in the media library (1.5 MB), large ones (490MB) aren’t. All files will appear in the uploads folder when examined from cPanel, but they don’t show in the media library.

    I am trying with only one file at a time and from different locations in my server, like inside my WP folders and out.

    I was able to upload an MP4 of 135.9MB, but ones closer to 500MB do not appear in the media library even though they do appear in the uploads folder when viewed with an FTP or cPanel.

    Sounds like you’re running into a limitation of your hosting environment.

    WordPress extracts metadata from uploads, and large files may take longer to process. If a timeout occurs during that process you’ll be left with the file in the media folder and no corresponding upload entry in WordPress.

    Unfortunately there’s nothing this plugin can do to help you work around a hosting limitation. Perhaps try contacting your host to get the upload time limits extended.
