    Hello,
Just did the security update to 1.16.9 and immediately ran into a new issue. I have a relatively old site using the Classic Editor and Classic Widgets plugins. There’s a widget that displays a search icon that triggers a popup using a shortcode. It was working fine with 1.16.8, and before that. But now, instead of showing the search icon, it shows straight source code for the link. I’ve reverted back to 1.16.8 for now, which I didn’t want to do considering it’s a security update. But I’m not sure how to fix it.

    Before: https://share.getcloudapp.com/BluWK5pe
    After: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Jru8D6XR
    The widget code: https://share.getcloudapp.com/L1u9BJke

Someone else developed the site, so I’m not very familiar with the code and template setup, but I will try any suggestions you have. Thanks!

    Hi @slouchyflower,

Do you have a link for us to check?

That might be caused by incompatibilities with another plugin/theme.

Can you also try the following for us to rule that out?

    – Temporarily deactivate third-party plugins except for Popup Maker, and switch the theme to WordPress Twenty Twenty-Two.
    – Clear out any browser, WordPress, server, database, and CDN caches you have.
    – Retest using a private or incognito window with no active browser extensions.

Let us know how that goes.

I am having the same type of an issue and I can confirm that it is not related to a third-party plugin. The 1.16.9 update causes the [popup_trigger] shortcode to spit out all of the contents it wraps as code instead of actual HTML tags.

To demonstrate the issue, I’ve set up a test site here: https://test.abundantdesigns.com/

On the page, I have a simple Custom HTML Block:
    [popup_trigger id="2121"]Click This Image: <img src="https://test.abundantdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/AdobeStock_219933456.jpg">[/popup_trigger]

Before 1.16.9 it would output an image on the page as a trigger link. Now it just spits out the raw HTML code.
