I have several tables with 0 records. Why-oh-why is WP Optimize trying to optimize something that does not exist? Shouldn’t these be ignored and not even counted as a table needing optimization?

Tables with no records can still benefit from optimization. Optimization via the SQL OPTIMIZE command deals with unused space in storage back-ends usually caused by deleting rows. A table may have zero rows because they were deleted, leaving some unclaimed space. If they don’t, then the operation will take negligible time, and hence isn’t a problem.

Thanks for your response David. I’m pretty sure the table in question is an artifact from another plugin, but since I am not 100% sure I have not deleted it. The reason I posted this is because WP Optimize is “seemingly stuck” (hanging) when it hits this table. While I appreciate what you say here, it would be more ideal if there was a WP Optimize option to “ignore tables with 0 records”.
