• I’ve just upgraded to v0.9.5 and have fatal errors like a number of other people here. I get HTTP 500 for any call to the website, front-end and wp-admin.

I installed the update (from v0.9.4.1) then, on the plugin screen, after it said it was successfully installed, clicked “Purge caches” from the top menu.

    My error is:
Fatal error: Class 'W3_Config' not found in /wp-content/plugins/wptouch/core/class-cache-smash.php on line 96

I enabled debugging to get this error but do not have access to my debug.log file at the moment so can’t tell yet if there’s more errors.

I have temporarily ‘fixed’ it by renaming the wp-content/plugins/w3tc-total-cache folder (to manually deactivate it, as I have some access to the webserver), and by uploading v0.9.4.1 from the Plugin page on wordpress.com

I’m here for post-update errors too

    Yes, totally messed our site.

    So, don’t update!

And in case you already updated and have the same problems:
Deactivating caching options didn’t help for us, only deactivating the plugin altogether.

No good advertizing for the premium options.

Yeah, best solution is to remove this plugin completely to get your site back!

@qaws The error you’re reporting says the problem is in the “wptouch” plugin, not in w3 total cache.

Exact problem Here. Please Fix — SWIFTLY. I am currently running time-sensitive
Mobile Advertising campaigns and this problem is preventing me my WP-TOUCH plugin from working…. So the Mobile Version of the Website looks horrible.

    Here is Error:

Fatal error: Class 'W3_Config' not found in /home3/dlundy1/public_html/[Website]/wp-content/plugins/wptouch/core/class-cache-smash.php on line 96

    • This reply was modified 8 years, 2 months ago by dlundy1. Reason: more info

Out of 25 sites that we have it used on, 21 of them broke and showed a blank page. We had to remove everything to get the sites back up.

    Same here… The plugin can’t find a file…
/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/Google/Maps/Builder.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

I’ve also got an “failed to open stream: No such file or directory in…” error when trying to update the plugin on staging to test it. Just want to see if there will be any response from devs on fixing the issue at some point.

@otto the error is with W3TC. The W3_Config class is used to handle the w3tc configuration files. Most of these issues is due to the major rewrite the dev have done. The main cause is the custom autoloading code. No effort has been made to structure the code so autoloading is easily handled or using a generated class list.

I have several sites and on one of them I had to remove completely w3totalcache (incl. the fields in the options table) and reinstall from bottom. It took me more than 1 hour.

Furthermore instead of images the ALT/TITLE tag shows. After disabling Alias in Page cache it seems to return. Look at grtx.nl itfeed.nl and sportfeed.nl

I am using Cloudflare for these sites and had to reauthorisize my Cloudflare settings.

It’s nice to get an update, but it’s not nice to get this kind of work, which is not documentated or tested good enough to release as an update.

The W3_Config used to handle the Configuration its now been renamed. WpTouch probably requires it directly so it can get access to the configuration values. There are no wrapper functions for the class methods.
