Moving index.php prevents user logins

    I wanted to move my blog from https://www.techniti.com/wordpress to http//www.technti.com.blog while keeping wordpress in its own directory. I followed the instructions to a tee bt when the option is set to move the blog to /blog, Iam no longer able to login using any use d. I was able to reproduce the problem multiple times with both IE 6.1 and FF 1.0, both running on WinXP SP2.

    The problemwas definitely caused by the option rather than by the actal file location. I logged in simultaneously in IE and FF and then changed the Blog URI to point to /blog in IE. After that, I was not able to login through IE again. I set the change back to the default of WordPress through FF and was able to log back in. Reproduced the problem in the opposite direction as well.

    The system works fine when both blog and index.php are in the same directory.

  • maybe someone can help me. I was really enjoying creating my blog/journaling area. I don’t know what happened, but I can’t even view my site online, can’t access my cpanel or anything… My server hosts are NO help and really irritating me. I can’t get into my file manager to see if I misplaced the index file or what… can someone help me?

    I can now get into my domain, sorry if I posted a stupid question. It didn’t have anything to do with the index file. I am now trying to build my wordpress so that it will look and feel right in my site… thanks … Robin

    I do not know who Robin is but my website is still down because of the bug I have reported here.

    Is there another location to file bug reports?

    I did read the link and followed the steps during my installations. There is one important difference between the docs and my setup. The docs assume the WP installation is at https://example.com/wordpress/ and the blog is at https://example.com/ In my case the blog URI would be https://example.com/blog This one change seems to make all the difference. If other people have not faced this problem, it is obviously something that I am doing wrong. On my part, I tried the installation about five different times includign dropping the database and verified the problem before posting a note.

    I have fixed my problem by installing WP in /blog and getting the blog up and running. Would have loved to keep the two separate.

    I’m having the same problem as sanjeevpai. WordPress is at “mydomain.com/wordpress” and the blog address is “mydomain.com/journal”. If I try to login, the login page appears again, but the location bar has changed to include the relevant redirect info.*

    (*That is, if I came to the login page by clicking “login” on my blog, or by starting on the login page, then the location bar says:

    https://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2F

    If I came to the login page by clicking “Edit” on a post, then the location bar says:

    https://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Faction%3Dedit%26post%3D1)

    I can actually get back into my domain now, but my wordpress info got changed somehow. I first installed it as directed into it’s own folder, which it still is, but I am php challenged (lol) shall I say and liked the actual module and forum/journal interface. I’d like to know what I did wrong so I can set it up and put it on my site in the user friendly way that I installed it in, because I can’t seem to figure out what I did wrong. Thank you
