Why does GTmetrix rate my site high when Google doesn’t?

I appreciate this might be an *impossible* question to answer, but I’m stuck.

I used Async JavaScript and Autoptimize on a couple of sites a few years ago and achieved significant improvements, but this time, although GTMetrix reports Page Speed A 99% and YSlow 91%, the best I’m getting via google’s pagespeed tests are around 70% mobile and 85% desktop.

Should I delve deeper into minifying CSS etc, or might there be some settings I should try amending?

Thanks for any suggestions you guys might have.

hello. I have async javascript and autoptimize, went through the wizard where the simulations showed the expected pagespeed and yslow scores. I applied the recommended wizard settings, applied the additional autoptimize settings and async javascript settings as instructed. Cleared all caches and tested directly with gtmetrix. Zero change – the scores I had before the wizard are the scores i have after. Is that normal?

I chatted with an independent Google Ads consultant who recommended that I improve the page load speed of my website. He emailed me a GTmetrix report that showed a speed score of 32 and a YSlow score of 66. I followed recommendations and increased my score. Since I have many photos on my site I tried various image optimization plugins. In the end my Speed score was in the 80s and my YSlow score was in the high sixties. Then I ran Optimole. Now my Speed score is 98 and my YSlow score is 91. Awesome!

Highly recomended plugin and service. Great support. For my case, I had great results due to the high number ofoversized images we had.

Gravatars still showing as url redirects on YSlow

Hi there. I have installed the plugin and set up accordingly but on Gtmetrix the gravatars are stil redirecting to the external site as opposed to the cached image. Is there something I’m missing?

Excellent plugin, I optimised my page load speed, cut down on all the needless stuff loading in the background and ultimately improved my website for users…. not to mention the SEO benefits of having a streamlined website.

Support from the plugin creator was 5 star.

Any ideas of how I can prevent these problems that seem to be caused by Super Socializer? (I deactivated and then reactivated plugins one-at-a-time, and Super Socializer was the only plugin that cause the problems identified by YSlow.)

My site’s PageSpeed score also went down, although not as dramatically (98% to 91%).

I tried a few other minification/optimization plugins before this: WP Fastest Cache and WP Super Cache. They were useful, but W3 Total Cache really is head and shoulders above the rest.

W3 Total Cache integrates very well with Nginx, and though it has a steep-ish learning curve, it is by far the most advanced, powerful and comprehensive speedup plugin for WordPress, imho. And I’m not even using premium so far.

Really helped me improve my PageSpeed and YSlow ratings (I test via gtmetrix.com), and my overall site speed has increased tremendously. As promised on the tin, it is a complete website optimization framework, capable of nearly every possible speedup trick you can imagine.

In summary, if you are willing to be a little patient and read the docs, and if you like tinkering with settings to “minmax” what works best for you, you will fall in love with this plugin.

Kudos to the devs. I will whole-heartedly recommend this plugin to other WordPress WebDevs.

GTMetrix: Use cookie-free domains, Litespeed can help?

When testing my site in GTMetrix, I am getting a F grade in the YSlow -> Use cookie-free domains test.

Is there a way to solve these warnings using Litespeed WP plugin? I am not using a CDN.
