WP on USB with XAMPP is dropping tables

I’m trying to get my WP install to work on a USB drive using XAMPPlite but every time I try installing it, two tables get dropped in the database: the wp_users and wp_usermeta.

This is the exact messege I’m getting:
The wp_users table is not okay. It is reporting the following error: Table ‘wordpress.wp_users’ doesn’t exist. WordPress will attempt to repair this table…

Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it?

I had the same problems with the full version of XAMPP as well.

Error establishing a database connection – help

Help please. I know I have done everything correctly and by the book installing xampplite first and then wordpress. But I have a problem trying to get to https://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php where it keeps saying I have a database connection problem. What can I do apart from uninstalling and reinstalling again….

local installation using xampp not working

I’ve had wordpress successfully installed on my PC using xampplite. First installation was successful and I’ve been happily playing with wordpress. I recently went into the xampplite files and changed my database security status buy putting in a password, and now can’t get wordpress to launch, and can’t remove the password in xampplite. WordPress says “Error establishing a database connection”. I’m out of my depth here and can’t see what to do next.

Is there a Dummy Text SQL import available?

I have the mirror sql & local host working with xampplite, but I’m wondering if someone has an easy way of importing dummy content (as opposed to writing new pages and posts, categories, links, tags, and attachments) to help with creating new themes.

I already updated my web installation to 2.5 without hitches, but for home (offline) using Xampplite (1.60.6) on a USB drive, everything falls over now I moved from 2.2.2 to 2.5. At https://localhost/wordpress/wp-login.php I get the following messages above the login boxes:

Going through the upgrade route for the db I still have the above error messages at the login screen – continuing the login process yields only the following messages:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare is_valid_email() (previously declared in C:\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\email\email.php:425) in C:\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\themes\gloriousfuture\contact.php on line 16

What is re-declare? And why can’t it do it? This is my ‘playblog’ – working on customizing a theme, and this is the error message. Is it to do with xampplite?

Please tell me what to do next…

Hi,

I had installed the WP in xampplite server and it did work as per expectation. However, I would like to know how do I change or move from
https://localhost/ to https://www.myblog.com.

Do I need to host it in some other web hosting? Or can I jus change the name of localhost (in the host file and URI) and then post my blog site to ODP and make it available to be search for?

My main purpose is to have my site to go online.

I’ve read some of the previous post already, but it is not leading me to anywhere after I’ve tried out some of the solutions.

Please help me out in my learning process.

I’ve followed the instructions linked to the installation section for installing WP locally on a Windows XP system using Xampplite. It worked flawlessly and I can access WP and do everything EXCEPT import an export file. I exported from MT and have the txt file on my local system. When I select it and start the upload/import, very shortly I get:

“File is empty. Please upload something more substantial.”

I have checked the code as best I can, and followed some old tips from this support section, but nothing makes a difference. I’ve seen a few ask this without any reply at all. Does anyone have a clue? I was counting on this setup to work locally on a messy upgrade from MT to WP. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I really want to leave MT behind!

I am using the latest WP download as of 10/28/2006 and Xampplite runs PHP 5.x and Mysql 5.x and Apache 2.x.
