I currently have Multisite installed at domain1.com – yes it is in the root directory.
There are other sub-sites, but the only site I currently wish to have mapped is at domain1.com/h2h/ – note that it is just a few touches from being ready to launch, so it does have quite a bit of content.
I want domain1.com/h2h/ to always show up in the URL as domain2.com – I presently have domain2.com in my server as an Add-on domain that redirects to domain1.com/h2h/ but obviously this reverts right back to domain1.com/h2h/
I also need it to have SSL on certain pages (I’m in the process of getting that cert as we speak). I’m considering Easy HTTPS Redirection for this, but if there’s a mapping plugin that does HTTPS also I would be happier – less concern about compatibility. If I do go with EHR then I’m not worried about setting it up – seems simple enough.
I’ve looked into a couple domain mapping plugins but all those have managed to do is confuse me thoroughly and worry about compatibility. I’m thinking it might be simpler to do it “manually” but I can’t find any documentation to that affect.
So my questions are:
How do I map the domain?
Is there anything in my on-page links / media links etc that I would need to change after mapping to maintain domain2.com in the URL?
Hello,
i’ve wpmu installed with two domain first level.
I’ve deactive all plugin, reactive the twenty theme, but the waiting its the same.
I’ve necessary installed the domain mapping plugin for multisite domain.
The backend it’s too slow, the waiting time are on average 24 seconds!
The log report this error, but its an error that provide in front-end also.
But the front and works normally.
“Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary. Use ‘LogLevel debug’ to get a backtrace.”
Any idea?
]]>Good plugin you got here. I just have a challenge and here’s a scenario.
I have a network install and lets call it: network.com
I install a wildcard ssl certificate and configure it properly with my host.
I create a sub-site called: site1.network.com
I set up domain mapping using your wonderful plugin.
I install WooCommerce plugin to site1.network.com and then go ahead to map it to a custom domain called mapping.site1.com and its resolves well except that i cannot find any products i added to WooCommerce when i go to mapping.site1.com/shop/. But when I switch back the primary domain to site1.network.com and visit site1.network.com/shop/ I find my products there.
I really do not know what might be the cause of this. Is it because I don’t have an ssl cert installed on mapping.site1.com?
I would love a solution that wouldn’t require me to install ssl certs to each and every sub-sites in my network. Please kindly help, I really don’t know what to do anymore.
Thanks
Max

]]>I’m getting no error messages on the plugin install–but Tools > Domain Mapping does not appear for any of my subsites in order to actually manage the domains. (They all have “Tools,” just not “Domain Mapping”).
“Domain mapping” configuration and “Domains” are options under superuser’s settings, but that’s it. Any domain I enter under superuser > Settings > Domains disappears and does not populate the db table.
Is this a 3.4.1 issue? Supposedly there’s nothing in the latest WP update that should cause this plugin to behave differently than in 3.4.
Just to confirm:
–The wpmu is installed in my dev domain’s root directory. I.e., I installed wpmu to https://mydevsite.com and not a subfolder of that domain (which I know won’t work for domain mapping).
–I manually installed the plugin, uploaded sunrise.php to the wp-content folder, updated wp-config.php, and network-activated the plugin.
–I also set the IP in the domain mapping settings and dealt with the wildcard record on the server end, not that that should affect the issues happening.
–I updated the network.
Anyone else having this occur?
