To anyone using either:

WP 4.3.x
OR WP 4.4.x

AND one of the “formal” language variants such as

German (Formal) / Deutsch (Sie)
Swiss German (Formal)
Dutch (Formal)

There is an unfixed bug in WordPress versions 4.3.x and 4.4.x, which in combination with any of the above “formal” language variants leads to an invalid HTML language attribute in your HTML markup, such as instead of .

Since this is not ISO compliant, applications (browsers and especially screen-readers) will not know what language is actually being used. This in turn may lead to unexpected and unpleasant consequences for your visitors.

This has been fixed in WordPress 4.5
by adding the string html_lang_attribute to all WordPress language files, which is then being used to populate the HTML language attribute.

However, since there are those who cannot install WordPress 4.5 yet (in which case you might want to have a look at WP Downgrade), I asked Bernhard Kau if he could think of a solution to this. Within an hour (!) he came up with Language Attribute Variant Fix, which truncates the language attribute to make it ISO-compliant.

I packaged the new plugin as language-attribute-variant-fix.zip, so that it can be easily uploaded and installed manually.

I tried to find a page in a WPv4.3 site but no results came back. I’m using wp 4.3.0

My page IDs are into four figures (it’s a big site).

Are there any plans to update the plugin please?

Hi all,

Ever since upgrading to 4.3 my WordPress implementation has stopped sending out notification emails when a new user registers. I still receive the admin email, but none of the users gets an email. I’ve read multiple threads scattered over plugin support pages that signal the same problem.

Anyone that has the same problem and a possible fix?

How can I revert back to wp 4.2?

Hello,

My website updated to wp 4.3 (currently automatically updated to 4.3.1), and my current theme apparently doesn’t support it. Which seems to have the effect that updates I make to the portfolio doesn’t show on the site, although the site works fine othewise. I have been in contact with the theme’s support and that seems to be the problem since everything should be in order for them to show.

Is there a way I can go back to 4.2, and how do i do that?
I have paid for my theme and don’t really want to buy a new one and remake my website because of this.

Error after upgrade to WP 4.3

Done an upgrade to WP from 4.2.4 to 4.3… and I got below error with fruitful….

reinstalling fruitful theme didn’t help
working with a different theme my site works ok without any error

I’d opened a case in fruitful support page.. so I assume this is kind of duplicate… but i just want everyone to see the current issue. I will update the answer here.

Installed about 5 hrs ago. Hasn’t shown up on first site like it is supposed to after 2-4 hrs.

qTranslate X error on language activation

While qTranslate works perfectly on WAMP, when I try to enable new languages on my server in qTranslate X 3.4.4 on WP 4.3, I get the following messages:

I would like to try this plug in, but it says “warning not tested with your current version of WP.” — can anyone tell me if this works with WP 4.3 without issues?

I would also like to know if it can work with the K-News Plug in. I want to get the pop up running, and K-News keeps track of lists – do I have to pay for a mailchimp subscription to integrate with this plug in? Are there any free alternatives?
