OS X 10.6.8
XAMPP 1.8.2
– PHP Version 5.4.22
– vhost mydomain.local

I have a local site working without problems for 1 year. Initially 3.5 wich I upgraded to 3.6 and later to 3.8 along with plugins: Advanced Custom Fields, Akismet, CMS Tree Page View, Posts 2 Posts, Simple Slideshow Manager

Today I tried to update the plugins before upgrading to 3.9 and WP refused to recognize my FTP user/pwd throwing this error:
“Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content).”

I changed permissions in wp-content folder from 755 to 777 and added in wp-config.php:
define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’);

Then WP started throwing the error below. I stopped LittleSnitch but no way, then I tried in the remote server and had no problems; the only difference is in the remote server upgrades 3.81, 3.8.2 and 3.8.3 where done automatically

Because of all the horror stories Im reading here. I have event listing til 2015 and I don’t want to disrupt this. Is this plugin safe to update in the latest version of wp 3.8?

I currently have Version 0.5.2 installed and am apprehensive about updating it. Please respond.

Bookings system backend scroll error

Hello, is anyone here with problms using wordpress 3.8?

I have WP 3.8 and just installed the plugin. I configured it (drag and dropped) everything and saved the options but my portfolio page remains intact.

I want to sort it alphabetically.

This is a fresh WP 3.8 installation for a new site.

I have this and other similar warnings in wp-admin/includes/theme.php and wp-includes/update.php on line 267 and other scripts for which I have missed copying the message.

The warning in theme.php means I cannot search for or install any theme from www.remarpro.com . Very nasty.

The warning in update.php concerns updating plugins. Despite the error the plugins appear to get updated.

I have had similar issues when upgrading WP 3.7 to 3.7.1 on another site. The WP upgrade function also issued warnings, though it ended up working.

I am all willing to accept it may be a server configuration issue, but I am unable to see what the problem is. Hence I cannot tell my hoster what needs to be fixed.

It all used to work and now it doesn’t.

My current server configuration as seen in phpinfo shows this:
