Last night I changed the WordPress address from (the following is an example and not the actual address) https://myname1.sg-host.com/ to https://companyname.sg-host.com/. This morning, when I went to log into the dashboard, I was unable to. The browser is saying that the URL is taking too long to respond and the page cannot be reached. I tried both WordPress addresses (the original and the new). The original always redirects to the new one and then I get the error.
]]>I never noticed this before the update to the 6.2 version.
Has anyone the same issues and how can I fix this.
]]>url
field that is populated from WordPress Address (URL)
in REST API endpoint?
I am building a headless site, so it is necessary for me to hide the backend url from the public accessible REST API.
]]>.htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?example.com$
RewriteRule ^(/)?$ wordpress[L]
When we try to access example.com/secretlogin we get 404, if we try example.com/wordpress/secretlogin we also get 404.
]]>I’m using wordpress 5.8 with the Boutique theme.
I was in the process of trying to tidy up my plugins and disabled Perfmatters and Slide Anything as when I upload a CSV file, a plugin (not sure which one yet) causes it to run very slow.
I also updated Elementor Pro but have since disabled it as it tells me its not compatible?
Basically the theme is having no effect on the homepage and I have tried to switch to another theme but for some reason they won’t activate?
All plugins have been deactivated but the problem persists, any ideas please?
Thanks in advance
]]>How to rename the url of a subdamin website to the url of the old hosting domain
I have tried following steps without success;
Remark:
The website of the old hosting domain has been deleted
-> Settings -> General
1)
renamd
WordPress Address (URL) – https://old hosting domain url
2)
renamd
Site Address (URL) – https://old hosting domain url
-> Save Changes
It didn’t work
On cPanel “File Manager”
(/home/nowgolic)
….
….
/public/html/
subdomain-1
subdomain-2
subdomain-3
new_hosting_domain
subdomain-4
subdomain-5
….
etc
We recently scrapped our old WordPress site (due to defunct plugins and an update of WP on top of that… breaking too many things).
Due to our host (and having a different WP site in another subfolder), our new site resides in \public_html\wordpress
instead of root (\public_html
).
So our WordPress-Address (URL)
points to https://www.example.com/wordpress
While our Website-Address (URL)
points to https://www.example.com
Attempting to connect Jetpack from within the Dashboard results in the following error:
“Unable to insert blog. Please try again or contact support.”
The issue persists even when disabling all other plugins and performing a clean re-installation of Jetpack (as per https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack), removing or adding the URL prefix www
and/or disconnecting the site from WordPress.com (we don’t care about the stats and never used any other features).
The debug tool (https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/) looks for the xmlrpc.php in https://www.example.com/xmlrpc.php
instead of where it actually is: https://www.example.com/wordpress/xmlrpc.php
.
The WordPress XML-RPC Validation Service (https://xmlrpc.eritreo.it/) successfully validates the connection though, since it looks in the right place.
Are there some leftovers of previous tests on the side of the Jetpack servers that’d need to be cleaned up, or is this a case of Jetpack simply not working if WP isn’t installed in root, resp. when Website-Address URL and WordPress-Address URL differ?
Thanks and best regards
