Installing latest WordPress after update of old PHP

I have just installed the latest WordPress (5.4.1) after shifting my server space over from Fedora 20 to Fedora 30 to permit an update to my PHP (the server had been running version 5.5.26). I used the manual install instructions to the letter, including disabling of plugins, because my server said that autoinstalls of WordPRess might not yet work with the new version of Fedora. After manual installing the new WordPress files, I get the following message when trying to login to access my admin page:

“There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”

There is no email in my inbox for me to check.

Any suggestions?

I can see that you have a new update, but this work in wordpress 5.4.1?
The www.remarpro.com information say tested until 5.3.4

Cannot preview draft posts or pages

Hi,

I have 3 websites, one of which is on WP 5.4.1 and the others on 5.3.3.

The site on WP 5.4.1, I cannot preview any new page or post drafts, it just shows me the homepage. I can still preview already published pages.

The sites on WP 5.3.3 all enable me to create new draft pages and preview ok.

The only way I have been able to add new pages to the 5.4.1 version of the site is to overwrite old existing pages.

There are no errors in the Apache logs. I use Avada theme. I use Classic Editor plugin which makes no difference if disabled. I also have the Healthcheck plugin which is not reporting any issues.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Fedora 30 upgrade and latest version of WordPress

I am hosting my WordPress site on a university student-run server. The server is now allowing migrations to the alpha version of Fedora 30, which I believe I need because WordPress is telling me I am running an insecure version of PHP (under the current Fedora 20 being used by the server): “You cannot update because WordPress 5.4.1 requires PHP version 5.6.20 or higher. You are running version 5.5.26.”

The university server system says that “Autoinstalled WordPress and MediaWiki apps may not work due to the new version of PHP. They will be upgraded before the transition.” Does this mean that I need to do a manual install of the WordPress 5.4.1 after I migrate over to Fedora 30?

Sensei Login, Register On MyCourses page redirect to MyCourses Page

On June 7 2020 install update Sensei 3.1 on fresh install/setup WordPress 5.4.1 (no other plugins) using WP TwentyTwenty theme as test theme – both “Login” text link and “Register” button on “My Courses” do not function – both redirect to “My Courses”page. In prior Sensei version – Login and Register forms appeared on the “My Courses” page. These do not appear in Twenty Twenty theme as test.

Also FYI – Sensei 3.1. “MyProfile” does not work in WP Multisite.

Another update is currently in progress and 2 other errors.

I get the same annoying error whenever I try to update to 5.4.1. “Another update is currently in progress”. Tried installing and running WP Update Fix plugin. It tells me that there’s currently no db lock.

Don’t have access to WP cli to check because I’m on a shared server.

Had a similar problem with WP Updraft as well. Wouldn’t run a backup because of what was apparently a semaphore lock. Yes, i waited 5 mins and tried again. No luck.

Also (since these things tend to come in 3’s). Really simple SSL isn’t working properly. I can’t enable SSL. I try to do it. I get “SSL is enabled on your site”, then i go to the plugins page and I get the “Almost ready to migrate to SSL!” message on the top of the page.

I got an external wordpress developer to create this site. Generally I’m happy but I’m wondering whether any of these errors can be put down to his work. Also, I transferred the site from the staging area via gitlab/FTP. Maybe that caused a problem ?

Also, now that I come to think of it. I couldn’t install Google Site Key plugin either because it said there was a caching issue.

Yoast SEO 14 & 14.1 not working at all

Last week, I updated my Yoast SEO plugin and could no longer access the SEO fields on my blog posts. Today I updated to 14.1, and the same issue is still occurring. I’ve indexed my site.

I see buttons for SEO READIBILITY and SOCIAL, beneath the text of each blog post, but when I click the buttons nothing happens.
