I was on version 3.2 and one of the blogs I manage had a WSoD when I tried to sign in and get to the dashboard. I narrowed it down and it only didn’t work when I had the Contact Form 7 plugins active. So I updated to 4.0 ad updated the plugin but I still get the error.

I have another blog with the exact same forms running and it’s fine. It’s only on this one that we can’t access wp-admin when this plugin is active.

Any suggestions? I was hoping to avoid switching to a different plugin but at this rate I won’t have a choice.

All subsites "missing" after update to WP 3.2/BP 1.5

I updated to WP 3.2.1, and BP 1.5 – and wasn’t able to update my network using the auto script. When I try to access any of my network sites – such as https://andrewcohen.bkgiveawayfreebooks.com – the site isn’t accessible.

Here’s the error I get:

Warning! Problem updating https://andrewcohen.bkgiveawayfreebooks.com. Your server may not be able to connect to sites running on it. Error message: Couldn’t resolve host ‘andrewcohen.bkgiveawayfreebooks.com’

I’ve regenerated permalinks on the main site – other than that I’m not quite sure what to do. Any ideas or pointers?

Nextgen Gallery Thumbnails Alignment Problem Background Changing

Hello Guys
I am having problem with thumbnails alignment in nextgen gallery.Everything is fine but my thumbnails are not properly aligned
When i edit css,it doesnt seem to correct the problem and thumbnails showing vertical.I also need to change background of gallery,because my site background is grey.

Why can't I update themes, install plugins or upgrade wordpress?

I’ve run into a whole bunch of problems today. When I tried to upgrade WordPress to 3.2.1, update my themes, or install new plugins, I got the same error message:

Could not create directory. /home/cynthiahaggard/spunstories.com/wp-content/upgrade/liquorice.tmp/liquorice.

Now of course, the error messages did not ALL say exactly this. This is the example from my attempt to update all of my themes. But ALL of the error messages, start with the words “Could not create directory”.

Here is what I got when I tried to install a plugin: Could not create directory. /home/cynthiahaggard/spunstories.com/wp-content/upgrade/stats.tmp/stats. This was for WordPress.com Stats 1.8.1.

Here is what I got when I attempted to update WordPress 3.2 to WordPress 3.2.1: Could not create directory.: /home/cynthiahaggard/spunstories.com/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-3.tmp/wordpress
Installation Failed

I must say I am confused about this. I believed that in fact I had updated WordPress last week, and I also think I may have gotten a notice from Dreampress, which hosts this blog, saying that I had updated to 3.2.1.

I don’t know why this is acting up. It seemed to be fine yesterday.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

404 error on all pages including login

Hi,

I’ve been asked to manage a site for my university society so I built a new theme using Artisteer and uploaded it without problem. I upgraded wordpress to 3.2 when prompted in the dashboard and for a few days it worked fine.

Then the site began to work sporadically, often going down and giving a 404 error for all pages but I could still access the dashboard. Reinstalling WP seemed to bring the site back up for a time but then everything resulted in a 404 error including the /wp-login.php page. Eventually the login page started working again on its own and I reinstalled WP again which once more brought the site back up. Now everything is back to 404 errors (including login) and has not changed in days.

I have not made any changes since the upgrade aside from deactivating all plugins except 1. I’ve searched the forums and found some similar situations but could not find anything that has helped.
I have no experience with ftp, phpmyadmin or .htaccess files so please forgive my ignorance and bear with me as I may need some hand holding.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

WP 3.2 "Database Update Required" Keeps Reappearing

Hello,

I upgraded to WordPress 3.2 about a week ago. Everything seemed to be working ok, but in the last two-three days, I’ve been getting the following message two or three times per day:

Database Update Required
WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.
The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.

Note: that only happens (very sporadically) when I try to open a new page on the admin panel — any new page: comments, new post, tools, etc.

The update process takes one second. Either things go back to normal after that or… the admin panel switches back to the old version of WordPress and tells me I need to update to WP 3.2!! That goes away after I refresh the screen or WP forces me to reupdate the database AGAIN…

The vast majority of the time, WP 3.2 works flawlessly, so why those hiccups two/three times per day — and only since last Friday or Saturday? Are others having the same problem? How can this be fixed?

I just did a forum search, including the WP 3.2 thread, but found nothing on this issue. [Addendum: Actually I did find a few threads, but none regarding this particular issue I’m having with WP 3.2.]

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Older version of Php causing memory usage highs with 3.2?

Earlier this week I got notice from my web host, LunarPages, that my site was running high on CPU and memory. After spending hours on my robot.txt and .htaccess, and disabling almost all of my plugins the CPU went down, but the memory stayed high.
Then while messing more with the .htaccess I realized that the server most likely isn’t running Php 5.2.4. At some previous point in time they’d had me add this to .htaccess….
# Use PHP5 as default
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php
I deleted it by accident and when I went to my site there was a blank page with the line about my server running php version 4.4.9
I put the php5 line back in and the site is back up, but I’m wondering if this is what is causing my issues.
Thoughts?

Customising page titles in WordPress

Hi,

I’ve searched everywhere but can’t find out how to customise my page titles.

I am using WordPress to create static sites with 3 or 4 pages plus a blog page. How do I get my page titles to display something other than the page name. For instance the Home page – I want it to say Welcome to my site (or something along those lines). I would also like to be able to customise the other page titles too if I needed to.

Is there a way to do this. I am pretty new to WordPress and know nothing about .php code. I am just creating my first real website.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Facebook Like Button not working.

Ever since the update the ability to use Facebook like button seems to be broken. I have tried a number of different plugins and they all do the same thing. You click the like button and it goes from 0 to 1 very quickly and then back to 0. It also does not show on your Facebook page that you liked the article.

Ok, for the most part I’m liking the looks of 3.2. However, we are having a few problems that seem almost trivial, but are ultimately annoying and are messing with the consistent look we have going with our site.

Problems:

1) Video embed. Seems the toolbar add button has been removed and an auto embed feature has been enabled. I like the idea, but in practice it hasn’t worked. Suggestions?

2) Indentations. I can’t seem to indent five spaces for the start of a new paragraph. When I do, and I hit update, the post goes all justified on me. This problem surfaced when I upgraded my browser to Internet Explorer 9. Any help would be welcome!
