I am concerned that with my installation being so old (2.51) the normal upgrade procedure might not work right and the database might have changed significantly.
Is there anything I need to in addition to the normal upgrade procedure to upgrade from 2.51 to 3.4?
Thank you!
]]>I run WordPress 2.5.1.
Recently I’ve decided my blog needs to be split into a work blog & a personal blog. Unfortunately I’m not very technically savvy so I’ve decided I will take the following approach:
1. Export old database & import it into both new blogs
2. Delete the posts on each of the blogs if they should be appearing on the other
3. Use a url redirection plugin (https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=wordpress+url+redirection&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a) to (hopefully) redirect the old URL’s to the new URL on one of my two new blogs.
I would appreciate any feedback on whether this is the best way to approach this? Any links to existing details of how to do this type of blog migration would be appreciated as I haven’t been able to find any.
Thanks in advance.

]]>Plugins I’m using are:
Akismet 2.1.8.
FeedBurner FeedSmith 2.3.1.
flickrRSS 4.0.
Get Recent Comments 2.0.2.
Popularity Contest 1.3b3
Recent Love – A List of Recent Comments 0.5.
Role Manager 2.2.2.
SRG Clean Archives 4.2.
Theme I am using is called ‘Options”
I tried both cforms II 8.7 AND Secure Mailer Plugin 5.5. (Dagon Design)
and neither work.
I disabled all plugins except Feedsmith and Askimet.
Still, neither plugin is working.
I have tried several workarounds posted on the plugins’ forums and on this forum. Still, nothing.
I’m not getting the mail, but the forms say successful send.
My ISP says nothing is wrong with PHP mail.
I AM getting mail from wordpress when a new user signs up.
Any thoughts?
]]>The upgrade immediately caused WordPress to no longer see my mySQL database and there are no longer any posts online. The site is https://www.refinancemortgagenow.net/blog
Can anyone suggest a solution? I am all out of ideas. I don’t have much money, but would be willing to Pay Pal $100 to whoever can solve this issue. I’m desperate. We’ve just lost over 2000 posts and I’ve been offline for 2 weeks now trying to figure it out on my own
I am not someone with experience fiddling with databases or server issues. Is this a common problem with WordPress upgrades? Help help help!
Thank you!
Christine
I don’t think this is the problem, but here are the mySQL settings in the Config.php file:
<?php
// ** MySQL settings ** //
define(‘WP_SITEURL’, ‘https://www.refinancemortgagenow.net/blog’);
define(‘WP_HOME’, ‘https://www.refinancemortgagenow.net/blog/’);
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘clege_wrdp1’); // The name of the database
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘clege’); // Your MySQL username
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘real_password’); // …and password
define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value
define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);
Altough it wont works for me to upgrade automaticly when I do it manualy it says it’s already up to date, no need to upgrade.
It’s all strange because my blog is just new and I guess I downloaded the 2.5.1
But in my dash is always a notice that says wp 2.5.1 is available, update now.
Any help or thoughts are much appreciated!
Cheers,

Anybody knows a solution to this vulnerability? It was published last month, but there aren′t any comments about this. It seems it is an important vulnerability.
Do you know if it affects wordpress 2.5?
Thanks in advance.

]]>The flash uploader loads like it usually does. I pick a file to upload (any size, small or large). I see the ‘crunching’ text, then I am taken to the page that normally shows up when an image is uploaded, with the details of the image. The title is in the title field, but the thumbnail is empty. (Empty in Firefox, broken image in Safari & IE7). I can insert into the Post, but it inserts a non-existant image. Any post that is saved and viewed just shows a broken image, or no image at all. No error is displayed at any time during the upload or insert process. Checking the uploads directory with FTP, there are no uploads.
I’ve tried the following:
To see if it was a PHP upload problem, and not a WordPress problem, I used a small php script to upload an image and output the results. That worked.
I decided to try an earlier version of WordPress. I installed 2.3, and the upload worked as well. It is only 2.5.1.
WordPress see’s it as a successful upload, but it never makes it into the upload folder. Anybody have any ideas?
One other thing. The test domain they provided me with is 2 subdomains deep. ie… sub2.sub1.domain.com Could it be this?
I have a request into the hosting provider to see if they have any ideas. They do a lot of business hosting, and they’re not cheap shared hosting, but I figured someone else must have installed WordPress on their servers at some point.
