It looks like I’ll have to either edit this theme, or replace it, I have a back up from last year on updraft plus, I’d really like to keep the theme if I can, as long as I can stop hackers being able to add nasty links to all the pages of my site through it.
Can anyone suggest a replacement theme either free or paid that looks like whitehouse, or can anyone tell me how to edit the code so hackers can’t get into my site, or who I can hire to do this for me?
I’m getting my host Host Gator to do a manual cleaning, but that won’t help if I can’t fix the problem where they’re getting in.
They’re just adding some random links to some payday loan sites. Why would they even do that? It just means that the entire site gets ruined and doesn’t show up on search results anyway, and it’s not at all relevant, or helpful to them at all. Why aren’t these sites shut down from doing that? Can I report them?
Somebody help please. This Google Webmaster forum thread might be of some help.

]]>Since I’m a visual artist (cartoonist), I really need those thumbnails there. I tried an og plugin, a facebook thumbnail plugin, some code in the header I found here, and some more, including the Facebook official plugin I have right now. I can see the og for most of the items, and sometimes even for the image, but the debugger keeps telling me:
Provided og:image could not be downloaded or is not big enough.
I just uploaded the plugin Auto Post Thumbnail, recommended by that Facebook plugin, and it crashed my whole site – really obnoxious.
Please tell me how to upload a thumbnail with my links to the Facebook page. Oh, I also asked on their developer forums, and of course they just maligned WordPress.

Thank you with hope.
Something else possible: I decided to cut Google out of the action, and have a robots text to disallow all images. Then I wondered if that includes Facebook, as a bot. I can’t find the name anywhere of the Facebook bot, so I set it to allow Facebook. Should I add bot to the name, or something else? Believe me, I looked everywhere for their web crawler name!!
]]>I can’t just swap out images, since there is no image there now. Whitehouse deliberately made their css extremely confusing so people would pay for help. I’m thrifty, however.
Is there a simple way I can add it in css or in header.php so as not to go digging in functions? I’ve tried many variations of #header background: url(img/collage.jpg)which don’t do anything. Thanks so much. https://donnabarstow.com/
]]>I finally managed to install wordpress and then whitehouse –
Several modifications have to be made and I have never seen a CSS script before -for starters I’d like to move the sidebar to the left, I suppose I just switch left to right (and vice versa) in the section below at:
– border-left: becomes border-right
– .sidebar_left: becomes sidebar right…and so on
[ Moderator note: Code edited with backticks, when sharing code examples, please wrap the code in backticks or use the code button. ]
#sidebar {
background: #eee;
width: 318px;
float: left;
border-left: 1px solid #c1c1c1;
}
.sidebar_left #sidebar{border-left:0px;border-right:1px solid #c1c1c1; width:318px;}
.sidebar_left #widgets{border-left: 1px solid #fff; border-right:1px solid #eaeaea;}
.sidebar_left #maincontent {float: right; border-left: 1px solid #c1c1c1;margin-left: -1px;}
.sidebar_left #sidebar {float: left;}
.sidebar_left #contentcontainer {background:url("images/faux-column.png") repeat-y scroll right top #EEEEEE;}
#widgets{
border-top: 1px solid #aaa;
border-right: 1px solid #fff;
border-left: 1px solid #eaeaea;
}
#wrapper {
position:relative;
}
#nav {
position:relative;
z-index:4; /* ie drop-down fix */
}
#maincontent {
float: left;
width: 639px;
background: #fff;
border-right: 1px solid #c1c1c1;
margin-right: -1px;
}
/* @ FULL WIDTH */
#maincontent.fullwidth {width: 100%;border-right: none;}
Can you confirm?
Then later, I want to take the backround away (the sort of case structure), so that I only have the center column and the left sidebat without any structure …can you help me with that?
Many thanks in advance!
]]>I started a thread already – here’s my next question:
I was invited lastly to just download a theme and see what I can do with it – yet that is easier said then done, as Iam a novice and it took me until now to find out how to download and then connect the files –
So I prefer not to download (if I ever manage that!) and delete and then re-download another one, if that’s avoidable.
So here’s my question:
I think the most appropriate theme for what I want to do is the “Whitehouse!
theme”, since I need something in appearance simple yet sophisticated (if you have other ideas, please share!).
BUT…there’s a couple of things I need to do and wish to know if that’s possible with that theme:
– I need the sidebar to be left and not right, can I do that?
– can I customize the colours
– can I modifiy the picture size?
many more things to adapt, but these three are essential, so I have to know before downloading whitehouse
many thanks in advance!

It’s not a huge deal, but it’d be great to have it back, as it contains the link for the RSS feed and the copyright language. I’m not super technical (just an editor), so any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete
