How to change width of post text?

Hi!

I’m trying to change the width of the text in my posts from 750px to 600px. I’m not sure if I should do this by increasing the white space around the text, or by changing the width of the main block and making my website narrower overall. I’d like to know how to do both. My website is www.tracingthreads.com

I’ve tried changing the values of the padding and margin here and haven’t seen any difference.

.post, .page {
margin: 0em 0 1.5em;
padding: 0px 5px 5px 6px;

How do I change either of these things? Any help is appreciated!

I would like to limit the full website width from ‘full screen’ to 900px.

slider wider than rest of content

I believe I saw an option to set the width of the website in the theme options. Cannot find it anymore. Is there an option?

Also, I would like the slider to be much wider (full screen) than the rest of the content. Is there an option in the theme options I can use or do I need to change the css for that?

Changing width of website including topbar to 1000px

I am using Tempera theme. I want to decrease the width of topbar and webpage so that i can display inframe ads of infolinks. Those ads require 190 px space on both sides of webpage (no part of website should be in that area including topbar). i have tried properties of wrapper, body but i didn’t get any positive result. I have no idea how to do this.

Would someone please have a look at this for me please? I am a little frustrated with what looks like the wasted space round my website itself. I do like to see the space but the GREY area is so huge.
Is there a reason for this?
If not, can I change it?
How do I do this?
