Sudden nosedive in site visitors contradicted by JetPack

I’ve done a bit of digging and wondering if removing a plugin I was trialling on a WordPress site could have affected my Google Site Kit / Analytics figures? Details:

On April 12th I spotted that JetPack were now charging to look at my traffic figures in detail, so I thought I’d look elsewhere. We’re a small website and don’t exactly pull in enough money to make the premium features worthwhile. I already had (and still have) Google Site Kit installed, linked to Search Console, Analytics, AdSense, PageSpeed Insights and Tag Manager. However, I spotted MonsterInsights and installed it for a trial.

I gave it a few hours, realised that it was just a freemium overlay of Google Analytics, and uninstalled it. I opted to just use Google Site Kit / Analytics directly. While I had it installed, one small change I made was the alter our site meta data (added some, basically! We had none before, and changed the way our posts are titles on social media).

However… two days later and my figures on Analytics tanked. On the 13th to 14th April – the days after my tinkering and the only ones since then that I can see on Analytics – we’re down a consistent 65-70% in terms of visitors. It’s even labelled as “Anomoly Detected”. Except that the Jetpack overview for the same dates disagrees with that, and is showing figures roughly inline with what we’d usually have.

What could have broken with Site Kit when removing Monster? And any idea how I could fix it? Do I need to reinstall MonsterInsights and tinker with anything? Or remove and reinstall Site Kit?

I’ve looked further and individual pages are getting views and being registered on Analytics, but their individual views are all down by huge percentages. The implication being that any tags / header code must still be in place otherwise at least some pages wouldn’t be registering traffic.

Incorrect Visitors count

I am hugely disappointed at their support and the Plugins.

Firstly, the Counts shown on Graphic Chart increased,
for example, from 100 counts to 170 from Mexico.
It is an increment of 70 visitors.

However, there are No visitor logs shown on Google Analytics or Analtify.

the Same thing with WordFence Traffic Logs, there’s no Traffic log shows
70 visitors from Mexico. The overall count visit logs including the
* Hacking Attempt
* Search Engine Bots(from Bing, Google. etc)
* Human Visit

I have tried to get help on this matter by contacting the support,
but No Replies for over 10 days.

Visitor count stopped counting (1) however visits count is working

On the 13th of January the visitor count went from the normally fluctuating number down to one and has remained at one ever since. The visits count continues to register normally. I’ve tried flushing the cache to no avail. I am on the latest version of WordPress and all plug-ins are up-to-date.
How do I diagnose why the visitor count is not working?

Why did I not know abou this sooner??

WordPress site stats – Visitor count much lower than it should be

Hi, I believe my website is not counting all my visitors, or even a quarter of them for that matter. For my visitor count, I use Jetpack Site Stats which I had on a different website and worked perfectly for me.

I don’t feel it’s a problem with Jetpack seeing as I viewed the stats through WordPress and it had similar results.

The stats say that I’ve had the following:

Views today:8 Best ever:30 All time:56

How do I know I’ve had more visitors?

Well, I shorten my links with bitly before sharing to social media accounts. I’ve shared 2 articles and have had about 750 clicks (482 on one and 298 on the other).

I’ve always used bitly and it’s served me well, I have no idea what the problem could be, all feedback is welcome. Thank you.

WP Statistics visitor count > WordPress stats count

Hi,

The visitor count displayed using the plugin is greater than that at https://wordpress.com/stats/day/
I read in your FAQ section that the other way around can happen because these have better detection than WP Statistics has.

Visitor Count stuck at 0 since 1.5.8.8

Since updating the plugin to 1.5.8.8 (the update that split the plugin into 2 separate plugins), my visitor count has been stuck at 0. Does anyone have a possible solution to this problem?
