I just started using WordFence and overall I’d say it’s great, but the feature titled “Don’t let WordPress reveal valid users in login errors” seems incomplete. It attempts to prevent probing for valid/invalid usernames via the regular login page (mysite.com/wp-login.php) and it does that by making the error message ambiguous as to whether the user exists or not. But if one goes to the lost-password page (mysite.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword) the error message still reveals whether the username is valid or not. It seems that this feature is useless unless it blocks username discovery in both places. Is this just an outright bug or is there another setting I’m missing?

It’s been a while since I have logged into my account and neither of my two primary email addresses are working.

I’m thinking the developer (whom I’m longer in touch with) had signed up using his email address.

Protect post with username and password

Hello,

I want to set up a post with a gallery on my website that is only accessible to users who enter a username and password combination – I need about 250 username and password combinations.
First attempt was to try membership plugins, although the free ones were ridiculously complicated and too much for little me. I would also be ready to buy a plugin, as long as its not expensive. I do not need the users to sign up, with email addresses and user accounts, I just want to give out a username and a password for every person individually.
The only thing I need is to protect the post itself. Yes you might assume that the content is not protected then, but in cPanel, I played a little with hotlink protection and its working perfectly fine!

OK…I currently have a site…I’m moving it to Bluehost. I already set up my account with BlueHost. I’m working my way through the temporary URL process with Bluehost and I get prompted for a WordPress Username and Password….I’ve never set this up and it doesn’t look like it gives me an option to do so…HELP!!

How can I know the password to the database that I created using WP-DBManager? I could find ‘Database Host’, ‘Database Name’ and ‘Database User’, how do I know the password?

Password reset being sent to wrong address / RESET???

I have a site that I started working on a long time ago, and need to finish. Now that I go into the site’s wp-admin, I can not login. I have the right username, but the email to reset password is being sent somewhere else – NOT either of my two emails.

What do I do to reset this process and continue on? I’m really stuck and now my client is looking to me for answers.

Can't get past "wp-admin" login

I used bluehost to install WordPress yesterday, but I have no idea how to log in to the dashboard. When I go to …com/wp-admin/ and the login appears, I don’t know what do since I never set anything up! I tried the login I use for this site, and tried “lost password” and put in my email but it says the email isn’t on file. Is this something I do through my hosting or through www.remarpro.com, or something else I’m missing? The “lost password” help on this site isn’t that helpful because as far as I know I don’t even have a username.

Error establishing a database connection (and I’ve tried the usual suspects)

Yesterday, I logged into our site and clicked the “automatically upgrade to 2.8.4” button, and now we have the “Error establishing a database connection” issue.

I logged into our Media Temple server via my FTP client, and took a look inside the wp-config.php file (the usual suspect), and realized that didn’t have a backup anywhere to refer to, so I don’t know if the user/pass combo is correct or not.

I can, however, login through Media Temple’s CPanel and access the database through phpMyAdmin.

Can anyone tell me how I use phpMyAdmin (or some other method) to find the MySQL Database username and password so I can verify that the wp-config.php file is correct?

I do have regular WordPress database backups I can refer to, as well, just need some directions on where to look.
