This bug was present a few releases ago and you fixed it- but now it is happening again. The user field displays the site admin name instead of the vendor name, which is obviously a huge problem. Previously, it displayed the name of the admin user who last edited a product of a vendor, but now it is happening and seems to be unrelated to such edits- even when we don’t touch the vendors’ products, it still populates the name of the site admin in that field, and seems to be random because it only happens with several vendor user accounts. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Users names are case sensitive?

Usernames and Multisite

I’m having issues. I have a website It’s in multisite (because I plan to later add more sites to the network). but it’s the default site(not in a subdomain or subdirectory). Also, users of my site are not making a subsite, they are simply registering to use the website

It doesn’t allow users to register with usernames other than one word, all lowercase usernames.

I added a must-use plugin that allows uppercase names to be used which I found here:

However, this won’t allow spaces or hyphens in usernames.

Next, I added this to my functions file which I found here:

But this overrides the first thing I added. It only allows for lowercase usernames with hyphens.

I need to be able to let users register with:
1. Uppercase Letters
2. Lowercase Letters
3. Numbers
4. Hyphens
5. Spaces

Is there any way to do it? I know if I just export the site and make it non-multisite I can achieve this because it’s the default WordPress behaviour.

Modifying Category Page header

I would like to keep the name of the category in the header but take out the phrase “Category:” I know how to eliminate the entire line (“Category: [Name]”) in CSS by adding
.category .page-header { display: none; }”
but how can I keep the actual name without the “Category:” label?

Usernames and autofill wrong and I’d like to change

I go back and forth between Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Basically, because usually my corrections,edits and posts show up at various times/etc based on the browser, the cache, etc.

However, what is consistent is that when I go to sign into WP, the drop down menu has not saved my user name without a spacebetween it, but I have a User name with “space between” it. Which never works.

There are five other users, two that are completely obsolete. The other are client users names. No problem, but if I don’t save password/user name, then when I put the password in, I get the shakey shake until i do it at least twice. If I do save the password/username, I can’t check the work by going to the URL because the URL/wp-admin launches.

And no matter how often I have cleared my keychain and entered in new passwords, I get the shakey shake.

But, back to the original problem: How do I delete old usernames, or incorrect user names? Took me a couple hours Saturday to figure out Google’s hidden secret. Would appreciate anyone who can share WP’s without having to spend another time suck. Much appreciated in advance …

Plugin has trouble with user names with a dot "." in them

We are testing this for a client, and our test Instagram username has a dot in it eg. John.Smith

The plugin authenticated fine, but wouldn’t import anything at all, we just got the now infamous “No new Instagram shots to import” message.

It also wouldn’t delete the user.

On checking the database value, I noticed it was now John-Smith, and so the delete function was using an incorrect array value, so could never delete that user.

I do see a lot of ppl reporting it won’t import anything, maybe the user name is something to do with it? Perhaps the API outputs something useful that you could display to the user?

We tried a different account without a dot “.” in the user name, and it worked, so pretty sure this is an issue here.

Change User on Post

Hi everyone,

We got hacked a few months ago and I have uploaded our backup. However, every post is showing up as myself in the drafts. Is there a way for me to change the user from my admin side per post or do I have to logout/login differently/paste it etc…? I am asking because we have 3 years of stuff and MULTIPLE users.

Buy It Now does not list username of purchaser

Hello Nitesh,

We used your plugin for a silent auction for a school fundraiser. We listed some items with Buy It Now and some users used this method. We do not see who actually won these items in the Expired Auctions page. Since this was a local auction we only enabled the “cheque” payment method. We did not get any notification emails for the Buy It Now winners either.

Any idea how we can determine who won these items?

How can a brute force attacker know a site's existing user names?

I use the Sucuri plugin to monitor failed login attempts and brute force attacks. Recently I noticed a brute force attack that targeted the two actually existing user names. Can anyone tell me how a hacker can discover the existing user names and what should be done to prevent this? Thanks for your help!
