I’m in the processes of switching hosts yet again. Hostinger refused to allow Wordfence to run. And Inmotion has bgp leaks as often as 100x a day. https://radar.cloudflare.com/routing/as22611?dateEnd=2024-02-17&dateStart=2024-02-16 95% failure rate currently. So I am going to SiteGround as they verified they have rpki to deny fake prefixes. And highly recommended. Although I wouldn’t mind hearing Wordfence recommended hosts as a backup.
But I have a question. I want to upgrade. But while I’m in the process of switching hosts, their is a temp domain being used. i.e. xxx.siteground.host. I don’t want to go live until the websites security is locked down. So the question is if the license key is installed at https://xxx.siteground.host and then migrated to https://mydomain.com how does that affect the license during the transfer (since sometimes they dns updates can take awhile)?
My last question is, not sure if you can answer this on the public forum or not, while fine tuning the Firewall (currently over 11,000 lines. It was hell and took 4 days) sometimes it can trigger where it’s not suppose to. Some testing still has to be done. I was able to reset the firewall to original in prior testing, but only by importing the old database. So the question is, where can I find the firewall list in the database to be able to only modify that table, instead of the whole thing?
]]>Fortunatly I remembered all of a sudden that I’ve created a special email address connected to Google Drive for backing up that website through Updraft Plus.
Now… I’ve really come a lot further and I see some signs of life in my website, but… :
I have saved the logs of every file (5 of them) which might help. I’m just someone who likes to build websites, so please explain in ‘human’ language as much as possible. Anyone who can help in this to get my website back on track?
Thanks!
Yvette
]]>I bought my domain on siteground and designed my website on WordPress.
Being a ‘.it’ domain I can’t just transfer it to WordPress, so: If I go ahead with the mapping will I lose my design on WordPress? Will I be able to manage 100% of my website on WordPress later on?
Thank you!

Can you tell me where i should start searching for an error?
the site on the new server is here:https://www3.hunterdonbrewing.com/
I’m assuming I have to change something in the database once we transferred it to the new server but I am not sure what that is.
]]>I wanted to create a new site with a new domain – BUT by mistake I went the wrong route
and Added a domain to my existing site.
How can I transfer the domain to become separate from my existing site.
I have gone round and round in circles using the transfer to another user BUT it keeps
saying that I am transferring myself – so causing an ERROR.
The outcome that I want is that I have my existing site rozmoreton.com and that I have another site called gwendraethartslab.com (bought in wordpress) be another site.
]]>This is going to be difficult for me to describe, but I’ll do my best. I’m trying to migrate my WordPress site to another server. So far, my previous files are on a MacBook Pro and all of my files are on MAMP. I want to transfer those files to another PC that has WAMP. In summary, I’ve done everything that is posted on the forms, but there was little success. Has anyone performed this task successfully? Are there any steps that I missed? I’d appreciate some feedback.
]]>I’m trying to do something that is allegedly really straightforward, but I’ve hit a brick wall and have no choice but to give up and ask for help!
I’ve created a website (let’s call it Website1) in WordPress and want to transfer it to a currently established site (Website2) which has just a front page (not built in WordPress). So following a guide I’ve made an exact backup of Website1 and Website2 on my desktop, then made a backup of the database from Website1 using the hosting site’s phpMyAdmin section. Logged into Website2’s hosting site and created a new database for it. Amended the wp-config.php file with Website2’s DB_NAME, DB_USER and DB_PASSWORD. Then I’ve imported the database from Website1 to Website2 and used FileZilla to copy Website1’s files into Website2’s location.
I’ve then removed Website2’s old files (which just had a front page) and when I go into Website2 all I get is a 404 error. This is the first time I’ve done this and having followed the guide to the letter and being able to see that Website2 is exactly the same (file-wise) as Website1 I have no idea why I’m getting this error. Maybe this is something really obvious but not being an expert I have no idea what to do.
I’ve deleted and redone this about half a dozen times now and need help!
