Thumbnails Displaying In Different Sizes/Ratios

Hello. Thanks for the cool plugin. One issue I’m encountering is thumbnails have recently started showing up weird (please see example). Most of them are neatly displaying in their native ratio with the post titles clear and legible underneath. But, lately the plugin will pull thumbnails of the same ratio from newer/updated posts, crop the sides off and fill the entire box which disrupts symmetry and makes the post title hard to read. I’m not sure what changed and I can’t seem to find how to resolve and get the problematic ones to look like the rest of the ones pictured. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

No longer can I use Edit Media to save thumbnail crop

When editing images using “Edit Media” in previous versions of WP there was a Thumbnail Settings. So the edits (crop/resize) could be saved just to the Thumbnail. This appears not to exist anymore.

Am I missing something or did they just remove this feature?

The image thumbnail sizes are varying (because I uploaded portrait and landscape photos onto instagram).

Is there an option for me to display squarish thumbnails instead? The overall aesthetics is not so pleasing because now I have thumbnails of different shapes / sizes. Would prefer to standardise all thumbnails to square like how we view our own instagram feed on instagram itself.

I have 2 plugins (post thumbnail editor and simple image sizes) to try and get my thumbnails to crop from the top. I have tried using wordpress’ inbuilt image editor but it doesn’t matter what I do the thumbnails are always missing the top …even if cropped from top to centre.

You would think that custom thumbnail crops would be essential, as most stores need the right thumbnail. I can;t get mine to work, I have spent hours trying. I cannot code in CSS. Anyone got any ideas on where to go from here, I have tried everything I can find at this point.

Woocommerce storefront theme. It seems to just throw away my custom thumb and do whatever.

How can you change the position of the thumbnail crop when generating thumbnails from a gallery? I know you can edit the thumbnail of an individual image and change it, but, what if I have a gallery with 500 images, I can’t edit that many. I am looking for a way to change the default position when any thumbnails are generated.

I’ve ran into a problem that’s boggling with my head.
Not sure if it is a wordpress 3.8.1 issue but it does seem that way as I have never had this issue with previous versions.

The cropping feature of the “set_post_thumbnail_size” set to true does not crop the image at all but the entire image scales proportionally to the height or width whichever comes first.

No it is not a theme issue as I have tested this issue by changing to twentyfourteen theme and changed the thumbnail sizes in the functions.php file there as well an still it only scales the image down, and as such i am unable to get and image cropped to 150 x150 for instance.

wp e-commerce product pages

I am using wp e-commerce with the Gold Cart plugin. The products are displaying in a grid. If you click on an image on a single product page the lightbox works however I would like the main product page images to open up in a lightbox instead of going to the single product page.

Also I crop the photos by using the edit button on uploading to the product page so that they display nicely as thumbnails but they keep changing back. Any solutions?
