Hello Guys,

I need help with a theme migration. Our current theme is outdated and causing issues. It only has a few shortcodes, few Elementor widgets, and some CSS code. The outdated theme doesn’t propose any costumization everything is costumized on elementor but contains shortcode like a filtered post grid.

I’m considering creating a child theme of “Hello Elementor” and transferring the existing shortcodes and Elementor widget code to it. Is this feasible, and are there any steps or precautions to ensure a smooth transition?

Is Twenty Seventeen the best direct replacement for Twenty Eleven

Hi,

I’ve been running my site on the Twenty Eleven Theme for years and the only issue I have is that the drop down menus on twenty eleven don’t work with mobile devices (certainly not on android).

I’m looking for a direct replacement that does work with drop down menus on mobile and one that will mirror the look and feel of my existing site. Will Twenty Seventeen do this? Keep everything as it is but with working navigation on mobiles?

I’m just worried about making the change and finding that it messes everything up.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Ease of migrating existing WP Theme to Storefront Theme

Our WordPress website was built with Xing Ecommerce Theme with Woocommerce plugin and hosted by Godaddy Managed WordPress. The products are digital-download document templates for Engineers & Scientists in the Life Science, Critical Facilities industries. Hence website is very straight forward. Customers normally know what they want to purchase.
1) We are thinking of migrating from Xing theme to Storefront – as Storefront is more compatible with WooCommerce? Any comments?
2) What is involved to migrate the website to Storefront (free version)? Is there a plugin to do this? Can it be done by one who only has basic WP knowledge?

I built a wordpress on localhost with onepress theme,
After migrating to a host when I try to do changes through the customize
the changes aren’t saved and when I leave the page I get the notice that the changes will not be save.
Has anyone an idea how to fix it?

Exporting themes

I am trying to migrate a site that has some changes in the theme PHP files. When I export the site, I am exporting only the themes and database since I already copied the images over. However, I am not seeing any changes after the import to the new site. I can see that the database made it over, but not the theme pages. I basically changed the home page template. I know I can copy it over manually but, I am disappointed that the change didn’t make it over. Can someone help? Thanks!

What to do to get custom theme working after upgrade to WP 3.1?

I have a custom theme that was working great in WordPress 3.0.x. I upgraded to WordPress 3.1.2 and there are some things that are slightly off. Everything seems to work fine on the blog itself, but there are a few admin functions that are broken in the admin area:
– The Screen Options don’t get updated when selecting or deselecting the checkbox (i.e., displaying Custom Fields, switching between 1 and 2 columns, etc.)
– The Time stamp edit link doesn’t display the time stamp editor
– The chain”link” button doesn’t allow setting of a link for text

I know it’s an issue with my custom theme, because switching to the default WordPress theme resolves all of the above issues. So, I’m interested in finding out what exactly has changed from 3.0.x to 3.1.x, so I can fix my theme myself.

I see there’s documentation page for Migrating Plugins and Themes here:

However, the page for the migrating from 3.0 to 3.1 is blank

I did a search in the forums and read through a few different topics but couldn’t seem to find an upgrade guide.

Theme migration from top level WP set up to subfolder (url/wp/wp-content)

I have designed and tested a new theme on a different server than the one hosting my site. My site is set up in a subfolder (ie url/wp/wp-content/themes/etc…) but the testing server was set up with WP at the top level (ie url/wp-content/themes/etc…).

I realize I should never have done this, but now I need to move the new theme onto the main hosting server and am not sure where to begin. It does not preview correctly as is.

Any ideas?
