The 2017 theme is just what I want – the column width is just right. One can quickly scan back to the beginning of the next line, but it’s wide enough that it doesn’t go on for too many pages. However, there are many graphics that do not present well within the column width, and there is all that white space to the left going unused. Is there some way to insert graphics that utilize the entire available width of the screen?
I set up a subdomain using the WordPress 2017 theme. I set some of my pages to ‘A home page section’ in the page attribute box on the editor. After I saved them, I then wanted to stop them being this type of page, but the option disappeared.
I decided to change theme and now have the following options:
Defualt Template
Full Width
Home
Project
I have tried all of these options, but when I look at the page in ‘all pages’ I still see the following:
— PAGE NAME — Private | Parent Page: A homepage section
Am trying to do a Web Page for a church, and the members really dislike all the canned Themes. They want simple, clean, and intuitive. I’ve been working with the 2017 theme and they love the look and feel. Basically it gives the first time visitor about two screens of paragraphs for the casual visitor with links to other pages for those who want in depth info.
There’s enough info on the home page that I want to provide some basic navigation within the page. My initial thought was to link the sub-items under Home in the Top Menu to the appropriate sections, by using an id attribute in the
heading tag. The link functions, but the focus jumps to a point below the heading.
As near as I’ve been able to determine, the previous methods of creating an anchor on the same page as the href link have been deprecated and are no longer supported in HTML 5. Everything I’ve read implies that the current functionality only supports hyperlinking to another page.
Trying to do it from a menu item has the added wrinkle that it appears the custom only accommodates a URL as a target. (I’ve done some playing with this with mixed success in that the link will respond, goes to the wrong spot on the page. I’ve also tried hard coding a hyperlink within the body of the Home text, with similar results.
I’ve seen numerous references to the effect that the id attribute is uniquely linked with the element as opposed to its location. If so associating different id attributes with the same type of tag as shown below may not be interpreted properly.

Part 1

….. Text of Part 1 …..

Part 2

…..Text of Part 2 …….
The desired functionality is so basic that I have to be missing something obvious. But at this point I’ve spent days trying all manner of combinations and permutations with no luck. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
