TLDR: Ai and generative Ai is dangerous and a threat to everyone right now .
That all said, I think it would be important for a platform like WordPress to, at the very least, take a firm stance against generative Ai and provide protections for everyone’s websites from content scraping. This isn’t something that should be solely on plugin developers to create, but something that should be built by WordPress, or brought to WordPress.
Additionally, WordPress should also have a clear statement in their Terms of Service/Use and Privacy Policy that data and content that a user has on their site will not be used gathered by WordPress and used for generative Ai machine learning purposes. It’s a level of accountability that we need more companies to step up and own when this technology is being abused by other companies.
Having basic protections against theft should be a foundation of WordPress, regardless of predatory business practices and trends in the tech industry.
]]>I want to know, is there any way which I can completely copy a WordPress site with additions and design without entering the control panel? We were exposed to a scam where our design was stolen, and upon checking it turned out that all the details of the site were stolen, but there are some scripts that still contain our domains.
Best Regards.
]]>I paid for this app, with high hopes for its functionality.
I never received a license or a download link.
I checked my PayPal and bank statement and confirmed I had paid.
I brought it up with their support.
Their support refuses to acknowledge the clear proof that I have paid for the product.
I have escalated the issue with PayPal and am not worried about my money, PayPal is good at protecting users from fraudulent companies like this.
Be warned. Whomever is operating their customer support (Magazine3.com apparently) is either intentionally crooked or totally inept.
]]>Only given 1 star because there is no option to give zero. Having now seen the other reviews, I really wish I’d checked this listing prior to purchasing the plugin and numerous add-ons via their direct website.
This is clearly a scam as they are selling a product that does not work.
I paid over $120USD for the plugin and a handful of add-ons.
I installed them all and not one of them works. I followed every step to the tee and it does not work out of the box.
When you press the add to cart button, it sits there loading infinitely, does not go anywhere, does not add to cart. Same with the save for later add-on, same with every add-on, nothing works.
I reached out to support and they gave me a list of steps to ‘conflict test’. I followed the steps, nothing worked. I installed the plugin on over 10 generic wordpress themes, the plugin works with none of them. I disabled and deleted every other plugin except the VPC plugin and woocommerce, still – it doesn’t work.
I asked for a refund as it was taking far too much time and effort to get the plugin to work, I’ve never experienced a plugin so difficult to work with, and I’ve purchased hundreds of plugins. Every other plugin works out of the box, NOT THIS ONE.
They denied my refund and instead gave me more steps to fix the issue. The steps yet again didn’t work. I requested a refund for a second time, they denied my request again instead asking for my hosting login details. I am not comfortable giving them access to my hosting as they are clearly scammers.
I requested a refund for a 4th time, to be told they have a policy stating they won’t issue a refund if you don’t let them attempt to fix it first. Okay, I gave them login access to my wordpress installation. Again they’ve asked for other credentials to my entire hosting account.
Clearly I’m not going to get my money back which is DISGUSTING AS THEY HAVE SOLD A PRODUCT THAT DOES NOT WORK. Dirty grubs, steer well clear and make sure to never give these scammers a cent of your hard earned money. Germs
]]>Today I was charged for a subscription. I contacted support again about this. They told me that they could find no record of my PayPal transaction ID. They wanted me to give them my CREDIT CARD INFORMATION over an INSECURE CHAT WINDOW even though I made it clear that I USED PAYPAL. They also told me that they couldn’t charge my PayPal unless I had made an account (which is a lie).
Normally, I would just dispute this subscription with PayPal. But this slippery scammer has it set up so you can’t dispute any transactions with them in PayPal. I don’t know how they did it… it’s the first time that PayPal has ever told me that this “type” of subscription can’t be disputed.
I’m seriously considering writing an article about this experience because it seems to me that this developer should’ve been called out on this kind of scammy behaviour a long time ago.
