Wrong tax calculation on shipping on checkout (after delivery address entered)

Hi there,

I’m currently facing an issue with the tax calculation on our checkout page for Australian customers. Although I’ve set up a 10% tax rate for products purchased in Australia, there seems to be a discrepancy in the displayed tax amount during checkout, showing approximately ~7%.

Upon investigating, it appears that the tax is being calculated based on the USD shipping cost, without adjusting for the currency difference when purchasing in Australia. Interestingly, the tax rate for the actual product is correctly calculated at 10%.

To illustrate, let’s take a product priced at US$150. When converted to Australian dollars at a rate of 1.45, the Australian price is AUD$217.50, with a tax of AUD$21.75, resulting in a total of $239.25. However, the express shipping, priced at US$10 and converted to AUD$14.50, is displaying a tax of AUD$1.00, when it should be AUD$1.45.

While this may seem like a small issue, it holds significant importance. I would greatly appreciate any insights into why the tax calculation for shipping is handled differently and, more importantly, how we can resolve this problem.

Tax not applied to Shipping Method

The problem we’re encountering is that when the PayPal payment method is selected during checkout, the tax is not being applied to the shipping method. This is causing discrepancies in the final order total and affecting our tax calculations.

We have already checked the tax settings in WooCommerce and made sure that everything is configured correctly. The tax rates are set up correctly, and they are being applied to other payment methods without any issues. It’s only when PayPal is selected that the tax is not being calculated for the shipping method.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, were you able to find a solution? We would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions you might have.

Custom TAX for Extra EU

I have a question about setting up a tax enforcement under a particular condition.

Now my shop is set up to calculate taxes based on billing address.

Therefore:

– If the customer is European, the taxes are calculated based on the percentage of his country.
– If the customer is from outside Europe, the tax is zero.

However, is happening that some customers set the non-European billing address and the billing address in Europe, so the taxes are not calculated.

According to a recent court ruling, in these cases must be applied the taxation of the company country, in my case Italy (22%)

How can I set this rule with a function?

Admin commission setting

Hello Wclovers,

I want to ask that how I can add tax on commission earn by admin and also charge 2nd tax called TCS on total sales of vendor.
According to Indian Taxation rule or GST act Ecommerce operator have to charge GST tax @ 18% on the commission earned from vendor and also have to collect TCS tax @ 1 % from vendors total monthly earnings.
The issue is the goods sold by vendor are taxable and the commission setting are charging commission on the value including tax.
ex:-
value of good = 500 Rs
GST tax charge= 50 Rs
total value = 550 Rs

The commission is charged on 550 Rs and I want to charge commission on 500 Rs i.e excluding tax.
Also TCS tax is charge on the vendor earnings excluding tax:
value of goods= 500 Rs
GST tax charge= 50 Rs
TCS charge = 5 Rs (TCS is charge on 500 Rs)

I want to know that how I can charge TCS tax on total earning of the vendor and also how to collect admin fee based on value of goods excluding TAX:
WITH SIMPLE EXAMPLE:

Vendor side:

Value of goods = 500 Rs
GST charged by vendor to customer = 50 Rs
Total amount to be paid by customer = 550 Rs
(Admin side):
Total vendor earnings excluding admin fee and tax (Gross) = 550 Rs
Admin fee @ 10% on value of goods, 10% of 500 Rs = 50 Rs (substract)
GST on Admin fee to vendor @ 18% (GST charged on 50 Rs) = 9 Rs (substract)
TCS charged on Vendor total earning(i.e 500 Rs) @ 1 % = 5 Rs (substract)
Final Vendor earning after admin fee and tax(NET) = 436 Rs

Above was the example how the TCS and GST taxes are charged.

How I can charge GST on commission earned excluding tax and how I can charge TCS excluding tax.

I hope you got it what I meant to say.

Germanized Compatibility

I am using YITH WC Gift Cards with my WC installation and I am missing an option introduced by the germanized plugin to the standard WC coupon codes. It is called “Wertgutschein” and adds a checkbox to the coupon setup page for correct taxation. (in detail: The taxes of the full price before applying the gift card apply)
It works perfectly fine with standard coupons in WC but there is no similar option in YITH gift cards. Is there any option I did not see yet? Otherwise I cant use this perfectly fine working plugin.
Any help welcome.

Tax calculation not working

Hello,

I cannot get the tax to work correctly.

I have created a standard tax rate for everywhere (using all wildcards *) of 20%.

I have one product and it’s priced at ￡12.50. The cart is showing tax inclusive of ￡2.08 which isn’t correct. It should be ￡2.50.

I have entered my price inclusive of tax and have this option selected in the settings.

“Calculate tax based on” is set to Shop base address.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I could be doing wrong?

Accounting and cross country point redemption

Dear Woocommerce Gurus,

i have a use case where the sales team planned to introduce point redemption system. Every purchase gain points and customer can redeem the products when they have enough points. It’s a multi-national eCommerce site (Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, US) and customer can decide which country to purchase the products and eventually the sale report can be synchronize into a master sheet.

But the finance book are divided into country based (to have visibility how much $$ gain for each country). Here the challenge, if someone bought an expensive product from US site and gain enough points to redeem a product (completely FREE) from Korea website

Doesn’t it means US make lots of sales but our Korea website is making a lost?? How should the account/book work from background to make the sales figure explainable?

We are currently brainstorming the idea and not yet kick start the point system, but in future we are planning to use woocommerce. So better to address the concern now. It’s more an Account & Taxation question rather than the tool.

Hopefully i make my question clear enough and thanks for your time and input.

Taxes Not Displaying

Hello,

I have tried everything and read every piece of literature I can find, but I can not solve the problem. My taxes will not display no matter what I do. The taxes will display using “Enable Automatic Taxes,” with WooCommerce Services activated, however they will only display for the local area (I need taxes in every state).

As soon as I turn off automatic taxes nothing shows up.
