Yesterday I tried to show a friend the sampression theme on his smartphone. He saw the header, the menu, the catagory navigation, the wrapper background, the footer widgets and no content on first site. But who the [ expletive deleted ] has a symbian-smartphone…?

It’s easily possible to make WPtouch work on all kind of mobile phones including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung etc. To make this happen you need to tweak the wptouch.php file in the root of the plugin folder. The $container array in detectAppleMobile function need to have more browser/OS name string match. Best smartphone for WordPress

I am thinking about getting a smartphone and, since blogging would be a major purpose for it, I am curious if people have experience with which phones and mobile operating systems work best with WordPress.

Options I am considering include HTC (the G1), Apple (the 3G iPhone), and Nokia (the N97, E75, and E71x).

How do Android, Symbian, and the mobile version of Mac OS compare, when it comes to WordPress usability? Are there any hardware features people have found unusually useful?

I have WME 3.0.5 installed on WP 2.8, and I have friends who have confirmed that the plugin is working on my site through the following devices/brands:

Sony Ericsson
iTouch
iPhone

However, the mobile theme does not come up on my S60 Nokia E51, using the browser identify link in the settings page, I get the following for my phone’s browser.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaE51-1/100.34.20; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413

I am concerned that other Symbian users will get the same problem with my site. I’d be interested to hear of a fix for this.

Uploading Image via Mobile Phone?

I just tested my WordPress blog with my mobile phone for the first time and was able to post an entry to my Blog.

However, on my computer in the Write a new entry section there is also a part where you can upload files, but when I am writing a post on my Mobile Phone this section is missing.

The only sections I see are things like Edit Timestamp, Optional Excerpt and Custom Fields.

Does anyone know if there is another way to make a posting via your Mobile Phone and also upload an image to go with it?

I have the Nokia N70 it’s a Symbian OS on Vodafone here in the UK.
