New multisite install in subfolder

I’m so sorry if this has been covered before – I keep finding old threads, and I am not sure how relevant they are anymore. I am completely redesigning an existing WordPress site. To the point that it is not doable to just update the theme etc. I’m even considering not using the existing database. In the meantime, the site needs to work, obviously. I will develop in subfolder (I usually do). But this time, due to the client wanting landing pages with subdomains, I thought it may be better to install a multisite. Is it possible to install a multisite into a subfolder? I won’t be moving it afterwards – will it work the same as WP site that you can change the address on in admin?

I also don’t want to cahnge the existing installation to a multisite, as it is quite old, and has a gazillion plugins (I have inherited the site :))

I developed WP in a subfolder https://mydomain.com/site/ and got the mingle forum working and all the categories, etc., setup correctly. Then I took the site live by doing the standard operation of… changing the site name in settings, moving the index.php into the root, changed the header location in index.php, moved the htaccess file over and resaved the permalinks. Everything worked beautifully… until I checked the forum…

All the forums are still listed but when I click on any of them I get my theme’s 404 “page not found”.

How do I fix this without having to start from scratch and inputting all the forums again?

Forward new domain to subfolder install

Hi,
I have mysite.com in English and I just installed the Italian version (as new WP install) in the subfolder /it so that I have Italian site mysite.com/it/

I bought the domain mysite.it and I forward it to mysite.com/it/ , when I visit the main domain (mysite.it) it works but if I go to any pages (like mysite.it/page) a “500 internal server error” shows up.

How can I make it works in all site?

Already installed the WordPress MU Domain Mapping and usually work for me, but this is a subdirectory installed site with subdomain.
It’s a new situation and don’t found the answer.

The file and domain like this:
/public_html/subfolder
https://maindomain.com
https://maindomain.com/subdomain mapping to
https://newdomain.com

Can anyone help for me?

2.7.0 automatic upgrade in subfolder. How?

OK, We have a few blogs setup in various places.
Some are setup in the hosting root others are setup in subfolders of parent sites.

Ones that are setup as this.blog.name proper full virtual hosts upgrade fine with just the ftp details.

Ones that are setup as this.name/blog don’t seem to work at all.
I enter this.name/blog in the hostname field
After hitting submit I get back

Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.
and this.name/blog://this.name/blog in the hostname field.

Am I missing something blatently stupid, or is not possible to auto upgrade from a subfolder.

Same thing occurs with plugin automatic upgrade and it would make things easier if I could use it.
