Is there any way of blocking Russian email addresses?

These are from this morning. Does anyone know how to block .ru email addresses? This is getting out of hand and I am now looking for a new plugin. I really liked this plugin but……

I updated my Email Subscribers and Newsletters to this new version, and now I’m getting 100s of spam email subscribers. The FAQ from 7 months ago says that a new update is coming to fix the problem. I need it now! Smile!

Had to remove today

I have used the plugin for over 2 years with moderate success and was mostly happy especially with the Newsletter generator.

One thing it doesn’t allow is embedding outside of sidebar or widgets.

The BIG one and why we had to suddenly remove was the intense level of spam we were receiving over the past 72 hours. Mostly from a certain country just east of Europe.
This plugin would be much better if it had some kind of Captcha element or “I’m not a robot” device.

Hi
We seem to be getting spam or bot subscribers, we used to get maybe 1-2 confirmed subscribers a week now all of a sudden we’re getting 15-20 unconfirmed subscribers per day, it looks like it’s not a human adding them even though the email addresses look fairly real.
Any ideas?

Since August I have received over 1,000 spam subscriptions with Russian email addresses and Russian URL’s in the Name field. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

I installed both the WangGuard and WangGuard mailpoet connector as suggested to stop the fake subscribers. For some reason that led to an increase in fake subscriptions, many from addresses that end like this: fastmail.website, c.crazymail.website, a.yourmail.website. Before I installed the two WangGuard plugins, they were all yahoo accounts. My mailpoet is set for signup confirmation, which worked to prevent spammers up until two weeks ago. I checked the system myself and it does send the opt-in email both in the newsletter subscription and the “subscribe in comments”. Any suggestions, short of deleting them from my list as I see them?

I have a relatively new wordpress site (online Jan./2012) that gets about 100 unique visitors a month. Until last Thursday I had zero subscribers. On Thursday I started getting 50-60 new subscribers a day with email addresses like [email protected], [email protected], and very rarely a non polish domain extension (.pl) like [email protected] (still seems to be a foreign, non-legit domain by content).
Since I don’t know yet what WordPress’ vulnerabilities might be, I am suspicious of all these new-found “friends”. None of them have posted anything. Should I be concerned?

Spam subscribers becoming users through backdoor?

I have had 2 “subscribers” automatically become Users instead of subscribers. They do not appear under Subscribers nor on my MailChimp list. And with edresses such as “[email protected]” furthers the notion that a back-door has been found into WordPress. Thank goodness my setting was on the default User Subscriber rather than editor or admin.
