We’ve paid for the Wordfence Membership to utilise the firewall settings to restrict geographical locations from accessing/contacting the site. We had been repeatedly seeing spam emails from bots being sent to us via the website and unfortunately we are still having the same problem. They are almost all exclusively from Gmail accounts, but I don’t want to outright ban all Gmail accounts as there are some genuine users using these accounts.
I’m not sure what actions I can take, or implement on Wordfence, to tackle the levels of spam we’re getting.
Any help would be appreciated.
]]>A similar concept for disallowing email addresses would be good.
There is already a separate field where the user has to enter their email address – so there is no real need to allow email addresses in the message body.
It might not fully stop spam – but it might help.
]]>Is there a simple little blocking mechanism that WordPress offers? I haven’t found one, so is there a recommended plugin? The most popular ones only block comments, not emails.
Thanks.

I have been marking it as spam but Google has flagged my account as sending spam (as it is coming from one of my addresses to another of my addresses). This is happening on one of my websites for which I have installed Clean Talk.
All of my themes and plugins are uptodate and the developer who built my site can’t find the issue so they suggested I ask support here.
Please help.
]]>How can I filter out these emails to prevent spammy emails from this contact form?
Best,
Chris
I am using the wonderful Akismet plugin on my WordPress website, to block both spam-comments and spam-email, sent from the Contact Form 7-powered contact form on the website.
The last week I experienced an ‘attack’ on the website, in the form of spam comments on posts and of email spam sent from the contact form. For the comments I get good information what Akismet has blocked for me (39,000 comments in five days), but for the blocked e-mail I have no idea.
Of course there are the web server activity logs, but is there a possibility for me to get this kind of information from the Akismet plugin itself?
Thanks for your help!
