My whole site has been indexed except my homepage. Console tells me noindex on that page plus soft 404? I’ve inspected the page and have not found a noindex. When I look for robots.txt I get- #START YOAST BLOCK. I don’t know what that means. Console is also telling me it is indexible. But also in the attached image there is the /feed, reffering page /home (which I don’t have and leads to my undesigned 404. I did find a noindex there), and my live page theessaiyist.com page as User-declared canonical.
I don’t have any idea what to do about any of this. Can anyone guide me? Thanks!
Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/litespeed-cache/guest.vary.php
That fixed the soft 404, but now Google sent me an alert for that page that says:
Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Page indexing issue(s). The following issues were found on your site.
Top Issues
- Blocked by robots.txt
We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search.
Well, yes, I blocked that page in robots.txt.
I have resolved this type of issue before by adding a meta “noindex” tag on affected pages instead of disallowing them in my robots.txt, but I don’t see a way to do so with guest.vary.php.
Is there a better way to handle this other than ignoring Google’s alerts?
]]>My first question is does this even matter if this is not a page I care about indexing on Google? (Excuse my ignorance for not knowing what a guest.vary.php even is.) My second question is, if this is worth resolving, what do I need to do? I don’t know what caused it.

Could you tell me how to solve it?

Because i have no posts assigned to it when visiting that link i get a 404 error, but so will any other category that is not being used by any post.
This is kinda a huge deal, which makes me think this is either a very recent issue or one that maybe only i have, either way a 404 error is not what i should have.
The only way to fix this from my end, is to assign a post to use it or to delete it, but for some reason the uncategorized category cannot be deleted, maybe because it’s the first/default one.
We have plenty of posts and plenty categories we just don’t use that one (and no serious blogger should)
Can and should i rename it to a category we do use and delete that one ?
]]>Do I need to do something else?
P.S. I would have asked at the Yoast SEO: Search Index Purge plugin, but no one has replied to questions there in many months.
]]>I have removed cart and checkout from my sitemap, and tried Allowing them in robots.txt, then Disallowing in robots.txt but they still show as soft 404’s.
These are legitimate pages but they don’t show up for Google Search Console unless someone puts something in the cart.
What do I need to do to stop Google Search Console from showing them as soft 404’s?
Thank you.
]]>I also get>
—> “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead. Line: 2”
—> Crawl allowed / Page fetch Failed: Soft 404 / Indexing allowed? N/A —
User-declared canonical N/A — Google-selected canonical N/A
I′ve submitted the correct SITEMAP xml version “sitemap_index.xml” and checked that ROBOTS are not blocking anything but the thank you page>

Reading other support posts I′ve already checked:
– Wp> Settings> reading> allow website to index..
– Shop Page meta box> Advanced> Allow Search Engines to index the site (Advanced meta robots: none)
– Robots.txt> no blocks
– Sitemap> both pages appear on “page-sitemap.xml”
Can you help me please?

I’m wondering that is this an error or just normal behavior?
Thank you.
