widgetize Simpla theme

Hello everyone, wanting to widgetize the beautiful Simpla theme, would appreciate all and any help.

I followed these instructions:

with the Simpla Theme:

I made the changes as suggested. However, under Appearance-> Widgets I still get:

“No Sidebars Defined”
The theme you are currently using isn’t widget-aware, meaning that it has no sidebars that you are able to change. For information on making your theme widget-aware, please follow these instructions.”

Can anyone suggest what I can try now? I can put the code I used here if that would help. I appreciate your time and attention very much.

Removing a category from a page?

Not sure why my pages even have categories, but anybody who has the simpla theme should be experiencing the same thing.

it says “Filed in General” just like a general post would be. When clicking it, the pages don’t show up

but it still bugs me. I’d also like to remove the “posted by,” “comments off,” and the “comments are closed” text if possible.

simpla sidebar – maybe a general list question

I have the Simpla 1.01 theme (modified a bit) running successfully (as far as I can tell so far) working in 2.5. It’s a new blog and I haven’t really put it through all it’s paces yet. I had started it on wordpress.com and was able to export very easily (thank you).

I changed the sidebar.php and made a functions.php per the Automattic ‘widgetizing themes’ doc. Very nice and easy!

But how do I get rid of the dots in front of my headings? I’m sure it has to do with the type of list they are or the h2-ness of them. But I don’t know where to get rid of them.

RSS Widget not showing up

I’m having trouble getting my RSS widget to show up. The theme I’ve customized is simpla, which is really basic. I did update it so it can handle widgets, all the others seem to work fine. Is there some code I need to add somewhere to get the RSS to appear, or maybe something else I’ve forgot to do? I am a newb after all. Any help hugely appreciated.

Sidebar Problem

Hi, so far I’ve had no problems developing my blog’s look on the Simpla theme by Phu, however I’ve hit a little snag, as you might be able to see on my blogs front page…

(For those of you who can’t quite see what I’m getting at, check the sidebar… It has a rather nice blue gap underneath it.)

So far my attempts to rectify the problem have been largely (read: completely) unsuccessful, and I’m getting a little bit irritated from the look of it, and as a result it’s making me less enthusiastic about editing anything else because of the look of the page..

I would like to know whether I have a CSS problem, or if it’s something that’s just not properly rendering, and if so some advice on how to go about fixing the problem.

I’ll also include some links back to the HTML and CSS validator for you, with the source shown, just to show you what I’m up against, HTML (note: ignore my over-zealous commenting, I was having a few problems with loose and open ) CSS.

Hi.

I’ve just installed simpla at jurgenfauth.com and like it a lot. I’m looking to add Adsense to individual posts, but not on the home page. I’ve successfully done this with other themes, but simpla is so simple that it doesn’t even have a single.php file. Whatever I add to index.php appears everywhere.

So the question is–how do I get the ads to only show on the individual posts? How does simpla know whether a page is a single post or the home page? Do I need to add a single.php of my own?

I realize this is probably fairly basic but I’m stumped nonetheless. Your help is much appreciated.
